Suspended for racist abuse when he scored. Serbian heritage having a pop at the Albanian heritage members of the North Macedonia team.

"I'm f***ing your Albanian mother" to the North Makedonian team or a player.

Harsh if you ask me.

Again, it's words upsetting people.
Not sure where the racist element is, rude, unnecessary but not racist. Was his mother Albanian ? And he may well of been F****** her For all we know.

Not sure if that’s have same impact if someone told King Kenny they were tipping his Thai mum? Must be a Balkan thing

How do you know we're all white?

Similar has been shouted to me, but using English in stead of Albanian. Didn't bother me, gave as much back. I take it you'd be upset if someone shouted similar comments to you?
Yeah but I doubt you've lived in a war ravaged region like that where feelings remain of utter contempt for each other.

It may not be racial but it's certainly incendiary and not befitting of a professional footballer in a major tournament. The guy is an arsehole. He wants to man up if he's using such language and stop hiding behind the Austrian flag.

Is this the one that stiffed West Ham for a pile of Chinese money?

Good point. Its not that long ago literally thousands were lined up and shot for not being Serbs.

And their women were mass raped to dilute their ethnicity.
What he said means a great deal more than one of us saying it.

As a kid I wasn't really aware of the history of it so I just took Yugoslavia as a country and nothing more. But as I've grown older I find it incredible that they managed to field teams in any sports without having mass internal fights.

Has no place on a football pitch or being shouted down a camera and he deserves not to play in the tournament again. If that's the first thing he can think to say when on a world stage having just scored a goal, it shows how thick some of these footballers are. He knew what he was saying was highly offensive and provocative, let him take the rap for it.

One match ban. You get just as much for time wasting and getting a yellow more than once.

Yep, token gesture, making FIFA’s zero tolerance kick it out of football etc a token gesture. Meanwhile, they fire a shot across the bows of teams being fined if they move the bottles of coke or Heineken off the table, priorities firmly nailed to the mast there.

Well I agree with removing coke and Heineken, they’re both sh@te

It might be a mean thing to do but it's a bit much to call it racism. Jeez he said something that made himself look a dick to anyone who knows his language but hardly a major news story or issue

I don't think that we are in a position to judge the true context of the remark. It sounds very unpleasant and you have to question the mentality of the player if that is how he celebrates scoring.

Was it even racist? Asked only by the ignorant. I know that such comments in a classroom would lead to a fixed term exclusion for racist, homophobic or prejudicial language in both the schools I've worked in over the last 28 years and would have to be logged as a racist incident for DFE records. The answer therefore is unequivocally Yes.

Correct. The U.K. definition of racism is discrimination on the grounds of race, colour, nationality, citizenship, or ethnic or national origins.

Which makes a nonsense of taking the knee really, doesn't it. Doesn't UEFA agree with the knee? Not taking a great deal of notice, are they.

UEFA once again spectacularly miss the opportunity to do the right thing, as have Austria. He should be back home in China counting his money in disgrace.

As said above, for a person of Serbian heritage to say that is very much a racist comment.
And their women were mass raped to dilute their ethnicity.

My brother in law deserted from the foreign legion to fight as a mercenary for the Croats in the Balkan War. He works for the United Nations now (has had quite a life) and, as is generally agreed by international politicians, that although there was atrocities on all sides, he says there is no doubt that the Serbs were the most at fault. Hence all the war crimes trials of various Serbian leaders, of course.
