As Little as 30% of Premier League Footballers Vaccinated.

Compared to Italy 98% and Germany 94% figures shocked me when I heard yesterday.
When you consider over 60% of players are foreign what's going on?

Be interesting to see what percentage 20-30 year olds(average footballers age) have been vaccinated in England.

@poolsider According to the latest available NHS figures, 66.4% of 18-29 year olds have been vaccinated as of 18 July, so presumably that's gone up since..

If people have been telling you that you are special since you are ten years old, which will be the case for many footballers, I think the result can be that you feel are knowledgable about a lot of things which you know Jack shite about. Look at how many even of today’s top footballers end up bankrupt.

So a tendency to think you know it all, a tendency to follow social media as “the news”, a feeling that you are invincible fitness wise, may all be factors.

But while they are all factors, the last point is that there’s no excuse not to get vaccinated. If those figures quoted above are correct, there must also be a question about the difference in approach between clubs in England to those in Italy and Germany. Football in Italy has always been seen as a serious profession and players are expected to look after themselves in a professional way. It may be their clubs are putting pressure on their players, whereas in England clubs are more relaxed.

I think that they feel like the virus will not affect them because they are so fit.
Same as a guy that I know in my area who is currently in hospital with err Covid.
I am surprised that the clubs have not applied more pressure if the above stat is true. Long Covid or any decrease in lung capacity caused by the disease is bound to affect a player's performance and at the highest level small margins are very important.

But should it be allowed?
Most will play for their national sides be swanning off around the world and then you add on the European club competitions that's a lot of movement for unvaccinated players meanwhile the average Joe in the Street has to jump through hoops to go abroad, God knows how our Kenny gets into Australia.

He doesn't. They've been playing their games in the middle East.

Elite sportsmen, with a body fat % around 10-12%… all fit and healthy, at a very minimal risk of hospitalisation due to age range & in many cases having natural immunity due to contracting the virus being criticised for not being vaccinated for something they don’t need, that doesn’t actually stop them contracting or transmitting it.

Presume all the critics are in shape and their fitness levels are impeccable.

It’s a funny old world.
