Great match so far and great crowd atmosphere. Either team.could win although I have the Aussies just favourite, with such a strong batting line up.

Think Root can do the spinner job on non turning pitches just to rest the quickies. The way they play now they need runs and insurance getting them, so a pacer is going out ahead of a batter. If you were dropping a batsman, you'd go for Duckett, but I'd drop Bairstow- sadly the philosophy means if he comes off at the right time (that's the crucial bit) 1 in 4 then he plays. But as keeper he negates his runs, so pointless.

Balance is only part considered these days.

Aussies just ahead as it stands. Get Khawaja early and I think we have a real chance. Head will be a challenge but, hopefully, he'll run out of partners.
Gripping stuff and I'm sure the whole series will be the same..

Going to be an exciting day tomorrow, need JA to come to the party, was struggling with rhythm today which is unlike him. Broad just loves the drama of the occasion, I might have to stay at home for a paperwork day tomorrow!!

Aussies just ahead but weather will play a big part tomorrow and could help us a lot. Do need to remove Khawaja.
 
If we get half a day's play in this should be a cake walk for the Aussies, they will be gutted to just get a draw from this position.
 
Aussies running out of time to get the runs. Hopefully the lights will be on and then let's go all out for the win
 
Broad and Anderson and the rest v the Aussies minus their three best batsmen on a 5th day pitch with helpful overhead conditions.
England favourites for me if there’s enough time.
 
3.30 knee appointment with the consultant for my replacement op next week. Half of me hopes I'll miss nothing and the other half that I miss a collapse 😬
