Assessment of that

Lacklustre 1st half and start to the 2nd with statuesque defending.

OK their first goal looked offside and ours wasn't, but that's typical of the gormless officials we seem to get.

Much of the 2nd half was vastly better and looked far more in control and dangerous, just couldn't finish to save our lives.

We have to remember they were happier to sit back but still, we did better.

But what are we doing starting games so poorly, playing in weird ways, putting players in positions that they don't seem comfortable doing?

Another predictable away day here, clueless setup and some clueless play in key moments and we've gifted poor goals away and left a mountain to climb.

Lincoln and Wycombe, not a goal scored by us.

Must do a lot lot better but why has Critchley started us like this? Whatever he's trying to do in games from the off its not working.

Poor to be honest. Critchley stated that he was looking forward to the international break as it had been saturday tuesday since the start and only recovery in between. He said he was glad to be getting time with them on the training ground to work on things. Well it hasn't changed anything really. Poor defending again and its now 5 games out of 7 that we have failed to score in. Hardly stuff to get fans through the turnstiles again is it.

Good point, what have they used this vital time for? It didn't look like they knew what they were doing 1st half.

We haven’t scored an away goal yet! You carry on doing what you’re doing Critchley….glad it’s working in your eyes.

Seems to me all the fellas who didn’t spend 150/200 quid going to watch today aren’t too bothered.
To be honest this is a game I would never have missed in previous seasons but the boring dross on offer makes it very difficult to justify the time and effort to travel a 350 miles round trip…if you play this dreadful away set up trying to draw 0-0 then you better win your home games and I’m not sure we will do that every week..I will give him 15 games and assess things then before I start calling for him to go…

We’ve been up and down the country when others don’t and you’re a loyal Seasider. I don’t blame you at all.
Spent easily over £500 on away games and watched absolute shite. We’re so far from where we need to be.

It’s basically written me off being arsed going to Charlton. Having the piss taken out of us by the owner and manager at the moment.

Kudos to you guys for sticking with it…it’s a very tough watch at the moment and Blackpool nil seems to becoming more and more commonplace in away games…you never lose the buzz but I’m happy watching every minute of every away game on the tv and taking in all the home games where we might at least show some intent..we are still 4 players short of being a promotion team and the owner has to shoulder some of the blame for that..as I have said before I just want what is best for the club and I don’t buy into all the sustainability bollocks..it doesn’t bother me how much we spend as long as we are competitive…at the moment on the road we simply are not

The reasons why we lost are clear.

All our internationals were tired from their exertions, our manager only had 2 weeks to assess how to approach this difficult game and our kits were also very scratchy.

Everything is fine.

He's not trying to draw 0-0, he's trying to win games, it's just not working at all.

It was better 2nd half with the subs, but hard to say as they were leading and happier to sit back, but we did dominate then.

If we can start like that....

I guess we'll have to wait for another away game to find out if we've or he's learnt anything. 🙄

Dembele again looked good, has to start, brings people into play, made things happen, tried things.

I think we've got enough to be winning these games, being let down by odd setups, statuesque defending from players with little confidence and a manager who's just had more time on the grass... but we came back just as disorganised as ever.

I understand what you are saying but I think he sets up not to lose games away from home and is happy with 0-0 albeit he would prefer to nick a goal..it’s anti football and is barely watchable even when you win 1-0 and if you concede and go behind then it appears there is no plan b. I know a good few who have been to every game this season and are not at all happy with the style and manner of the defeats. We have all seen Blackpool be very very poor but this is worse than that and we have very few shots on target and therefore very few goals.

He clearly thinks the setup will allow us to win, now is it too cautious and not fitting thr players we have, you'd have to say yes.

Tbh regaless of setups if we defend like we did for 2 basic crosses then were screwed either way.

Much better 2nd half but hard to say as they sat back also.

But in games like this even when we're making chances we've not been very clinical.

Lost for words in three words.

Couldn't get onto my tangerine Site to listen, fortunately, so had to make do with the reports on this site. Gave up at half time.

Onward and downward!!!

Some fans will take crumbs of comfort from the second half showing BUT the game was already lost and they just showed good game management to see it out..they edged it and deserved to win by at least 1 goal..maybe 3-2 would have been fair but we were Blackpool nil again away from home…not much solace for our fantastic away support and they deserve better ..much better..i doff my hat to those travelling from the Gold Coast to watch that dross..I’m cured away for now until we play a different brand.

Yeah you've got to be careful saying we dominated when behind as teams do tend to sit back and defend what thy have, so do we infact.

It did look improved overall and with people like Dembele you'd expect it to, but also they were happy to sit back.

I went to the game yesterday.

It was a shit result and a mixed performance. We had a goal disallowed which was onside and their keeper made two great saves. The second half performance was ok but the damage had been done by then.

The problems seem pretty obvious and I’m at a loss to why the manager seems to persist with the tactics. Connolly at left wing back doesn’t work, everyone can see that.

I was researching buses to Barnsley which, by train is easy to get to, but after that and with the rail strike, I'll keep my money in my wallet. Already booked on the boat before Charlton so will have to suffer that one.

I have a season ticket so home games will be attended. Away games, the jury is out

Lincoln and Wycombe, not a goal scored by us.
I said at the start of the season that in this league you will always concede, it's whether you have the ability to score.
Not replacing Madine and sticking with Beesley will remain our achilles heel.

"NC will have ten days on the grass to teach the players how to pass the ball backwards and sideways."

On late morning, Thursday, 7th Sep, I received the above 'sarcastic' message from a Pool fan. At the time, I thought that Pool would just go to Wycombe and easily come away with the three points, especially after how well we had played against Wigan.
I COULDN'T HAVE BEEN MORE WRONG.
