It seems to me that we play better when we have an assistant manager! Maybe Critch needs a bit of help.
I'd love to see Simmo back here, one of my favourite ex Seasiders and he's got so much experience of playing, coaching and management. Speaks really well. What about Paul Simpson? His comments on Radio Lancs were spot on, and he has masses of experience as a player and manager..
I think he's left as assistant coach at Bristol City........ Oh, just checked Wikipedia and it says:
"Simpson temporarily stepped down from his coaching role at Bristol City in July 2021 while receiving treatment for kidney cancer."
Further research from a December 2021 newspaper article contains good news:
"Thankfully, following successful surgery to remove one of his kidneys five months ago, Simpson was given the all-clear from doctors and worked as recently as October with Bristol City."
Ex-Newcastle assistant Paul Simpson opens up over cancer diagnosis and treatment
Former Newcastle assistant boss Paul Simpson has spoken out for the first time about the treatment he received while fighting kidney cancerwww.chroniclelive.co.uk
He's a northern lad - Carlisle - and he might be happy to return to the area. Might be worth thinking about?
Critch and Ollie? Would be like Stan and Oliie. What about Ollie?
I've wanted Thommo back as no.2 since Neil Critchley was appointed.Get thommo back. Not only a good conduit for the players and management he is a great coach. We might even start to work on set pieces too
