Astra Zeneca jab

This isn’t great is it. It just disappeared on the quiet after the fanfare and the standing ovation for its creator on Centre Court at Wimbledon 🤮

It’s particularly shameful for all the people on here who wanted vaccine passports, wanted people banned from supporting their own football team and even more incredibly wanted NHS front-line staff to lose their jobs if they didn’t get a jab, labelling them selfish and “granny killers”. Not sure what you’d label yourselves now but every day is a school day as they say.

It’s a funny old world.

There were plenty of us on here who said that they held concerns about these vaccines and supported the right of the individual to choose.

I got pelters on here for holding that opinion and to be honest, in the end almost found myself battered into submission and press ganged (against my better judgment) to have the jab.

I suppose from an age perspective I sat in an age range that was a bit more ‘uncertain’ in terms of impact of CoViD itself and wanted a fast route out of the problem, but if I’d been 10 years younger would have opted against.

A mate of mine suffered a life threatening bleed on the brain… most likely (given timing and what we now know) due to vaccine.

Yep, I remember you saying the threat of vaccine passports was enough to put you off it.

However, the manipulation and scaremongering with the threat of people losing their jobs was enough to force far to many people, even if it didn’t stop you catching it or spreading it.

Sorry to hear about your mate, hearing stuff like that where genuine people have suffered through no fault of their own apart from being to told to do the right thing and pressurised genuinely makes me sick.

Follow it, but there’s tragic cases where people lost their lives.

It was removed for a reason.

“Safe and effective”… 😵‍💫

I think there will be many cases on both sides of the argument. On the first round of jabs only one of my mates didn't get it. He ended up in intensive care in an oxygen tent with Covid. It was touch and go for a while and he very nearly left 3 young boys behind. Thank God he came through it.

I'm not pro or anti-vax by the way. I'm pro-choice on the issue.

Pro-choice was always the best way 💪🏽💯

The choice we were given was really between the devil & the deep blue sea. As far as I can remember you either accepted the vaccines would reduce the chances of contracting a fatal dose of something we didn't yet fully understand or take your chances & not bother. You have to accept the experts judgment in cases like this. It did all get a bit us & them though, but that's nothing unusual especially if this site is anything to go by.

Maybe because of all the bullshit information we were given about the vaccine.

Blaming those in hospital beds as non vaccinated.

💯 stops you catching Covid with the jab.

Stops transmission.

And the biggest load of nonsense which their still peddling you'll get ill but you won't be as ill as getting ill if you've had the jab.

There is a BHF article about it here;

The most important paragraphs IMO are these;

Why might these rare blood clots happen?

Research from Cardiff University and Arizona State University, published in December 2021, found a possible explanation of the link between the AstraZeneca vaccine and rare blood clots. They discovered that the adenovirus in the vaccine (which is used to deliver genetic instructions to the cells) can bind with a protein found in the blood, called platelet factor 4. They think that in extremely rare cases, this may trigger a chain reaction in the immune system, which could result in blood clots developing.

More research still needs to be done in this area. The study authors hope that scientists will be able to build on these findings to reduce the risk of these extremely rare side effects, as well as informing the development of future vaccines.

Study shows risk of blood clots is far greater from coronavirus than the vaccine

A study by the University of Oxford shows that having Covid-19 puts you at a much higher risk of developing dangerous blood clots than the AstraZeneca or Pfizer vaccines.

The study, based on the health records of 29.1 million people in England, suggests while there is a slightly increased risk of developing low platelet levels and blood clots in the veins after a first dose of AstraZeneca, being infected with the virus raises this risk much more, and for longer.

The researchers estimate that for every 10 million people who are vaccinated with AstraZeneca, there are 66 extra cases of blood clots in the veins and seven extra cases of a rare type of blood clot in the brain. Infection with Covid-19 is estimated to cause 12,614 extra cases of blood clots in the veins and 20 cases of rare blood clots in the brain.

This research is more evidence that the benefits of the vaccine far outweigh the risks for most people.

It is a tragedy for the people affected and they should be compensated properly.

I await more details as the case progresses, cannot see the allegations behind a paywall. I know it's unfashionable to keep an open mind, but that is where I will stay atm.

What ESBN has copied above is interesting, no treatment of any type is risk free, and sometimes the effects, particulary at low level of side effects, take years to appear. The effect on the individual can be devastating, but the effect on the population is beneficial.

TBH, I always had more concerns about the new DNA programming vaccines which have become the standard.

Final point, we can comment on this having survived, unlike the hundreds of thousands who did not.

So your a medical expert 🤔

As far as I’m concerned, it was never touted as a ‘cure’ but it did seem to have a positive effect in reducing the number of hospitalisations and deaths. Which was the main intention of the rapid rollout.
I do wonder if some of the deaths caused by the vaccine were not so much the vaccine itself, but the way in which it was administered, sometimes by people not particularly experienced at giving injections. I know quite a few people who were accidentally injected in the vein and not the muscle. There’s meant to be procedures to avoid this happening, but they were rushing large numbers through every day.

In June 2021.......Covid 19 was the number 1 cause of death in the UK...9.98%
In June 2023.......Covid was the 26th leading cause of death and dropped below 0.8% (STATS HERE..follow the deaths in 2021 and 2023)

in 2021....99,800 people died of Covid (figures just for 1 year as adding 2022 would just confuse)
in 2023....8,000 people have died of Covid

So the most obvious conclusion is that the Covid vaccine has reduced those dying by Covid (a drop of 90,000)

In fact, apart from death by "ill defined conditions"...all categories of deaths have dropped below their 5 year year levels in 2023

You may not have died......your friends, mates. family etc. may not have died.....
but Covid would have carried on infecting people and would have killed a further 9.98% of the population every year....very basic but shows that the vaccine helped the majority of those that took it.

In the early days after full vaccine rollout there was a marked improvement in the number of deaths. Some medical procedures did improve during this timeframe, but I’d attribute most of those ‘lives saved’ to the vaccine(s).

After that however, its effectiveness into 2023 is less clear. There’s a natural immune response in the general population to consider and also the Covid variants have become less severe. (This is a recurring, proven theme with all influenza’s - they become less severe over time.) That would happen with or without the vaccines.

These types of reports and challenges will not help matters if another pandemic comes along.
Anti-mask. Anti-vaccine. Stuff that clearly helps when done properly and a large number of people will be against it from the outset.

Vaccines are very often a trade off between their positive impacts on a population and the disastrous impacts on a few individuals.
As far as I can remember these risk levels were known fairly early on in it’s usage.
I don’t think the Astrazeneca vaccine was used in the recent UK booster regime?

Whatever the issues/concerns or merits of the AZ vaccine (Which I suspect may not be finally determined on a football discussion board), inevitably this thread is a gift to the usual ‘I knew it/said so all along’ pompous & self-congratulatory resident bores to promote how clever they are/were all along - & can’t resist telling us so.

Again…..😴

I knew 3 people very well who died unvaccinated.

I know 3 more who were unvaccinated, caught the virus in 2020 and are still very ill.

I don't know anyone who was vaccinated and died.

It served its purpose for the vast majority of the population.

That’s it sorted then a survey of 6 people.

Ring Astra Zeneca up and tell them your results and the UK and all the countries that binned it might start using it again 👌🏼

You were pro vaccine passports though so it’s no shock 😵‍💫

*Within 28 days of a positive test

How does the maths work for that?

The most obvious conclusion? Is this forgetting the severity of the virus weakening and natural immunity?

The issue is here that It’s all based on computer models and guesswork.

Yet it’s pedalled out as fact… utter pish it is.

I think once people have wanted you banned from society and to lose your job it’s worth mentioning 💪🏽

Conservative estimates are that it saved 4+ million lives globally

Saying that I'm quite libertarian and if you wanted to refuse it then that's your choice
