This might've been observed and answered previously but I noticed today the attendance of Metropolitan Police outside the South before the match. What is the reason for Police from outside the borough to attend such a game? A high profile match I understand but in a low key game attended by 500 away fans or so I'm puzzled???

I the police from visiting fans always attend the away fixtures for every club. There was probably only two of them.
Think this has been the case since the 90s.

There in an advisory role only, as normal. It happens at every game in the country.

They’ll know the trouble makers and who is banned — makes total sense to have local bobbies (away) involved

We have the same wherever we go and it helps the home town sort out trouble makers early — surely a good idea . They mix with our fans in the pubs etc and if it stops any craziness itsagoodthing
