Could this be the start again and the end of the Prem as we know it (and the start off another possible break away euro or even world )US /ASIAN/ARAB/ CHINESE FOOTTBALL GLOBAL LEAGUE (STRAP YOURSELVES IN FOR A MASSIVE ROLLERCOASTER RIDE,BIGGER THAN THE BIG ONE (I personaly think football in the top divs could be fucked in the next 5 years).

An over the top player leaving for an overseas final payday doesn't mean anything.

If I had done what Henderson has in his career, I'd be quite happy. Then get a final pay day. Happy days!

Saudi Arabia is going to be similar to the initial USA craze. Yes more people will go for the money just like the odd player will go to the US for the lifestyle.

Who the fuck is going to watch a Saudi team. Henderson is going to be playing in front 5,000. It’s a farce. Henderson won’t care though.

Not anymore! However, I did go to an Asian Champions league semi-final in Riyadh between Al Hilal and Al Ahly from Qatar in 2014 and it was a strange experience to say the least. Kick off was delayed for prayer time, free water & half time snacks, no away fans, definitely no females, came away with a scarf and shirt given to me by locals and I didn't see another "westerner" all evening. And for the record the attendance was @60000👍🤣

He does do a lot for charities so may well use some of the money to benefit others. It will be interesting to see how his alignment to the LGBT+ cause will work out. Will he continue to speak up, or will Saudi use him in an attempt to sportswash themselves. I can’t imagine they’re about to change their laws anytime soon.
 
The really interesting thing will be if Southgate still picks his favourite for the next England squad against Ukraine & Scotland in September as apparently he has said the move won't impact his place in the England squad! He has effectively moved to a National league club for 700,000 per week. Southgate picked Maguire & Kalvin Philips when they were not even playing but would he pick Henderson?
 
How long before the Saudis/Arabs start buying the best players in the world for their league? I'm not talking about the best players at the end of their career but in their prime.
 
I think the big concern here is unlike the Chinese investors. The Saudis pot of money for football is way more bigger and deeper than the Chinese leagues.
Its pretty much independent from Saudi government intervention unlike the Chinese league. It's downfall was the Chinese governments intervention on Chinese leagues capping in wages and spending on overseas talent. Plus poor attendances drove overseas interest away.
The Saudi league is now a threat to all top flight European football leagues as more greedy professional football Mercenaries jump on the Saudi leagues riches and wealth. Watch this space

As I've said before I find the criticism of Henderson being a hypocrite understandable but OTT. ITV news at ten being the perfect example last night with a whole segment devoted to Henderson bashing with no balance at all and Tom Bradby sat there passing comment in judgement. This will be Itv who will have no problem picking Newcastle United for a live TV game in the FA Cup. There's hypocrisy right through the media on sports that Saudi money infiltrates but it seems its now being lumped on one man's shoulder to blame.
Womens Golf is a great example. Georgia Hall one of the best golfers in the world is in a lesbian relationship with another golfer the American Ryan O ' Toole . They actually paired up last week and played in a team event in London in the Aramco series. That's Aramco , led and funded by the Saudi investment fund. They also both played in one of the first tournaments of the year in Saudi. No criticism there though from the LGBTQ community. Let's see who picks up the TV rights for the Saudi league because it will be someone. Will there be criticism for that?
