Barnsley v Blackpool Official Matchnight Thread 26.04.22

Proof that smoke bombs can cause injury was there to be seen last night. Scorched grass on the pitch.
Cue the first fool to say that wouldn't have happened if they had been removed by a steward!
Well, my answer is ready, remember the pitch at Middlesborough?
Do we have to wait until a pool fan or a steward is injured by one of these, flares that are used as projectiles?
Enjoy your game, Sing, Jump about (I wish I could), cheer, chant, and make a load of noise, but please leave the smoke flares/bombs or whatever behind.

On the coach back from the game what I most enjoyed about tonights performance every single one of the players put a shift in.
They threw themselves into every challenge and tried to win the game even when we where 2-0 up.

Marv was collosoll like it his life depended on us not letting them score.

Great performance.👍
The press was really good considering you'd probably class that as 4/5 constant starters.

Grimshaw, Madine, Bowler, Keogh, Gabriel, Sterling and Anderson are probably in our best 11. We've got some good depth to the squad.

We still need better quality on the wings and central midfield.

Not sure how many of those will start regularly next season. 2 or 3, I suspect.
Yeah but compared to this season, they've all been regulars. So what I was getting at, is the press was impressive due to the lack of game time for people like Casey, Kirk, Beesley and Dale. Yet they were still at it for 90 minutes.

Impressive performance considering. Barnsley brought nothing at all to the table.

Yeah spot on. Well drilled and motivated, obviously. Hunger, in a pretty meaningless game. Augurs well.

Agree, except for them being at it for 90 minutes - a couple were cramping up. But, fair do's, they put in the effort and I hope to see more of them next season.

As comments above the energy put in to the game over the 90 minutes was impressive. Good attitude throughout the squad. No doubt there will be several changes for Saturday.

60 points on the board, which was my personal minimum hope for the season. two games to play, above PKE, positive goal difference still think we can make top 10.
Wow you set the bar high, I think we have out delivered our expectations by some margin already.
People may point to the fact that next season will be harder as, there will not be teams hit by points deductions But the fact remains 2 out of the 3 relegated teams had no deductions.

Even if Derby had no points deducted this season we would still have finished above them.
