A good friend of mine, Dave Shaw, is about to release his new book "What Time Is It? Game Time - A history of Basketball on the Fylde Coast.

Some of you may know Dave from Warbreck in the late 70's, Blackpool Sixth Form or from the local Basketball scene.

Signed copies, priced £17.50, will be available from Dave via shaw169@sky.com

More details of the book are available from the Gazette. Its Game Time.

Just prompted me to google Roy Blake who was our PE teacher at Hodgson. I knew he was heavily involved in local basketball.

Found the article below in which I saw an old childhood pal Andy Eze.

I went to Hodgson in the 70's & Blakey converted tall, non sports minded lads into basketball lovers 🏀. See him walking his labrador around herons reach now.

I'm sure my old English teacher Jeff Emmett will be in there somewhere. Taught at Larkholme , Baines and Cardinal Allen I think and heavily involved in Basketball on the Fylde. Sadly no longer with us.

Dave's a good mate of mine and I know how much effort he has put into this. It's been two years in the making. Should be a good read for not only basketball players but any local sportsmen from the 80s and beyond.

Roy Blake plays golf with our seniors section at Herons Reach. Top bloke

Message from Dave....
Thanks for responses and I see some of you know the names I talk about in my book.
Roy Blake is certainly a top man and one of the top coaches in the UK in his time he has extensive coverage in my book. He coached both myself and Andy Eze when Blackpool entered the National League season 1990/9. Fond memories of Jeff Emmett (RIP) too who helped improve the local Senior Mens league , both he and his wife Anne, dedicated to our Sport. All covered in my my book. Thank you 🏀👍
