Beatles new record- Thoughts!

Yeah sounds more Lennon solo than Beatles, so i’m assuming that’s abbey road or later period? Not bad but nowhere near Beatles album quality is it? …

I’d never heard of this until now… so it was archived unfinished recordings and they’ve used Skynet to finish it off?

Is that correct?

Reminds me of that bit in Trainspotting when they’re on about Lou Reed and Bowie. It’s not bad. It’s not great. And deep down you tell yourself it’s a grower but you know it’s not.

The interesting bit is how it was made. AI is gonna be a really good or bad tool. I saw a video the other day of Johnny Cash singing Taylor Swift through AI and it’s unbelievably accurate and dangerous

They tried to do it in the 90s, John Lennon's vocals were from a demo he made at home before his death - the piano was too present and it masked his voice when they tried to make it louder so gave up.

Peter Jackson and his team basically perfected an AI tool that can seperate audio into different channels when doing the documentary. This sort of technology already existed but they have done it to the extent it can completely isolate voice from a recording with all sorts going on.

This allowed Macca and Ringo to finish what they started in the 90s, the song includes the guitar solo that George recorded before he died (rerecorded for the song released today I believe). So it is technically all four of them contributing, the final Beatles song!

Cheers for the explanation.

I’m a big fan but what some might say a bit of a purist. I’m a little afraid to listen to it!

Whilst this kind of technology is very sophisticated, I can’t help but feel that the true spirit of the band is something that they would have wrote and recorded as a four piece.

I’m a bit wary of it but maybe I’m just getting old. Will give it a whirl!

Not heard it yet but looking forward to doing so. I'll wait a while before buying the single (7" vinyl). It's been put out at £18!

I just had a listen to that Johnny Cash thing... I'm not convinced at all by that at all... It's not that it doesn't sound like Johnny Cash, because it is really incredibly accurate, but it doesn't feel anything like Johnny Cash... It lacks the depth and expression in the voice, the rich tone... It's just nothing like him really.

Kind of makes me think of if the whole ‘hologram’ concert idea became more developed. It looks like them, it sounds like them, but it isn’t them.

It is a bit odd but McCartney and John's son (Sean) point out how innovative The Beatles were when it came to recording techniques, they really pushed the boundaries in the 60s. They both reckon he would have approved.

All the AI does is separate the voice so you can hear it, if they were using AI to replicate his voice on something he never sang I'd consider it a disgrace.

That’s fair enough- I think the ‘AI’ term mislead me a bit at first. It’s basically just a very advanced post production technique.

Agree re the 60s stuff. The white album was massively iconic and ahead of its time. I got it for about 2 pounds a long time ago in good condition. Even listening to it today I can hear how many modern artists it has influenced. Great stuff.

I've just been looking at 1962 pressings of Love Me Do so I can have the first and last Beatle's singles!
They will certainly set you back a bit! Have always wanted an original mono pressing of ‘Please please me’ but they are ridiculously over priced.

The Beatles definitely wrote & performed many great songs & individually some more. I can't help think they have been scraping the barrel with this a bit & Free as a Bird which were salvaged from demo tapes I think. It's not terrible & apparently all proceeds go to charity so I don't have a problem with it & who knows it may grow on me.
I've been listening to the latest album offering from those teenage geriatrics The Rolling Stones & It's got some surprisingly decent tracks on it. Most 80 year olds are pottering around in their Farrah Action Slacks but this lot still have it, unbelievable Jeff 👍

It's terrible. So overproduced.
And what's your gift to the world?

Honestly, such a completely ridiculous and I'll thought out post with literally no vindication of subject content.
It just shows your complete lack of any kind of talent and your absolute ignorance.
A lazy effort to bring attention to yourself, a nobody.
👏 well done for your inadequate life.

You bring nothing to the table.......
