Been a lot of mentions of Billy Ayre recently

Probably a large percentage (due to passage of time) of our fanbase have no idea how much of a bond he had with the fans not just because he could handle interviews, but also how he handled players and opposition and tactics and training and being a real lifestyle coach (unlike the Kev Stewart variety), and all when success and money was pretty much hard to come by and our fans were at a low ebb.

Just wanted to put it out there that no other manager has come close since him and probably for me there won’t ever be one until the day I join him at the far post.

King Billy Ayre …God bless him!

I was a kid when he was manager and he was the man in charge when I attended my first Blackpool game.

I just remember him walking across that pitch towards the east and him looking towards the south stand gritting his teeth with that fist pump.

Gives me goose bumps thinking of him.
