Ben Mansford's "exciting" list !

Ben Mansford said we had two lists of players, one for The Championship and one for League One. All I can say is, I wouldn't like to see the League One list.
Other clubs, even in the division lower are signing quality whilst we sign quantity.

Gets carried away does Ben. Better when he just gets on with his job and stays away from the press.

Happy with Bowler, Lavery and Carey. No offence to them and I'm sure they will play their part but James and Connolly are not exciting. I'm reserving judgement on Casey and John-Jules as I haven't seen enough of them.
I'm hoping that the list still has some names on it and we see them signed by the end of the month.
I don't want to talk about Keogh.

Unfair to judge Connolly - a right sided midfielder, not a right back!!! Needs must at the moment!

I suppose I can’t say that’s Oystonesque practice to sell the fans the dream then deliver little.

Apart from Stewart and Dougall (Carey too soon to judge), KeshI and Ward are just not good enough.

It’s like watching men against boys in the first three games and James has been anonymous in every game he’s been in.

Wards been one of our better players this season.

I think the championship list is probably great on paper, but we haven’t taken delivery of the targets. I reckon Keogh wasn’t on the list and was a “we need bodies, he’ll do” signing and we’ve probably picked up the development players from the list but are having to select them and rely on them early doors which is tough at this level.

We need some better players but the signings have been ok as squad players other than Keogh, in my opinion.

Connolly and James have played out of position so far. We have 3 left backs but I'd possibly be happier with James at LB than Garbutt. Not that we've seen him there yet.

Bowler and Lavery have started well.

Carey and Casey look good prospects, almost first team already. Grimshaw looks decent though we've not seen him much yet.

I can’t see the point in James, he’s been anonymous. The midfield in general has been overrun or bypassed apart from the last 15 minutes of the Cardiff game and the last half hour of the Coventry game. The problem also lies with the central defenders who can’t find a telling pass between them.

The ball is coming back on the defence. We are too light weight in midfield and our defence is being sold short. I like Conolley but he was exposed a few times on saturday. We don't have an out ball from defence short of lumping the ball forward. The Coventry game was much better from an attacking point of view but we were lucky not to go in at half time only conceding the one goal (as dubious as it was).
If we shore up the midfield that would go a long way towards relieving the pressure on the defence.
Having said all that we are only 3 games in.
