Best Drinkers??

Malced’s little joke got me thinking……Who are the biggest drinkers in these Isles?

Traditionally it was obviously the Scots and the Irish (both Northern and Republic) with their Heavy, their Guinness, their differently spelled Whisky/Whiskey respectively.

I think in the last 30/35 years the English pisscans have really made a huge effort though and can probably stand their ground even with the finest drunkards that the Kilted Clan can produce. Can pour enough Strong Lager down their Gregorys to make a Dublin Man pay some respect.

The Welsh I never hear of in this regard. I assume alcohol may be banned there?

So which lot are Kings of the old Liver Damage nowadays in your honest opinion?

The English can afford enhanced drinking support from the magic marching powder.
That trumps all

It's almost certainly the Scots, Irish & English... The Welsh are too focused on singing and rearing sheep from my experience of them...

Other nations will undoubtedly drink more per capita, purely because more people will drink sensible quantities over a longer period of time. Here in the UK and Ireland, the drinking is generally confined to smaller groups of professional drinkers, who consume large quantities over shorter periods.

I always rely on trusted sources for information for this so here is the Sun. Please bear in mind the North West figure dropped 22% when I stopped drinking. Reliable source

In Yorkshire when I arrived here, they used to brag that they could drink 10 pints of Tetleys. Its ABV was around 3.7% from memory. But they couldn't drink 10 pints of Websters which was somewhat stronger, again from memory around 4.1%. so it was classed as crap.

Here's an interesting list.
