Billy Ayre Appreciation and memories Thread

I never thought I'd ever see us play at Wembley, but Billy got that ball rolling for us with back to back seasons that ultimately culminated in a return to the top flight. He set us on that path.

Billy was the first manager in a long time that actually gave me the belief we could go on and get back to our rightful place.

If only he had had some backing .

First football hero.

Absolutely love the bloke.

What a bond he had with us.

I only spoke to him once, after the Torquay defeat and I just said "thanks for everything and please lift them for next season."

He said "I will son, I will." and my God he did.

A lovely bloke, great motivator and knew he was adored. We lost him far too soon.

RIP Billy; never forgotten.
