Blackpool and fylde underwater by 2050...?

Here's something I bet people haven't factored in.

Glacial isostatic rebound... and takes many thousands of years.

"Post-glacial rebound is the rise of land masses after the removal of the huge weight of ice sheets during the last glacial period, which had caused isostatic depression."

"Professor Ian Shennan, who led the study, said: “Subsidence and rising sea levels will have implications for habitats, and will require action to manage resorts, industrial sites, ports, beaches, salt marshes and wetlands, wildlife and bird migrations.”

From Humberside, heading clockwise around the British coastline until South Wales, land is sinking.

Mid-Wales and North Yorkshire are experiencing little change.

North Wales, parts of the north west of England, Tyne and Wear, and the entirety of Scotland besides the Shetland Islands are rising."

So might be something to consider as a factor seeing as Blackpool falls into the still rising area.

Also...

A bit of info on this subject in the antarctic area.

Although it does mention whilst it could be positive in some areas it may not be in others.

I’m no expert but if each of us were to fill just one bottle with sea water and put it on a shelf or under the sink or wherever you choose cos the actual storage place isn’t really the key factor here, wouldn’t that drop the sea level?
Not only would we save low lying areas from being engulfed, but it may also lead us to finally discover what happened to flight MH370.
Someone would be able to work our how much water that is, probably have a minimal impact.

I've mentioned an idea before of pumping water inland. If many countries were doing it on a large scale and starting now, that too could offset some rise and buy time at the least, or even be part of a solution if it is indeed inevitable eventually.

Pump water back inland on Antarctica and allow to freeze again.

Large scale ocean dredging projects.

Altogether might have an impact.

Interesting to look back on a few complete bullshit claims and scare stories including Greta.

If the predictions were going to be true the first thing that would happen is that the banks and building societies would stop lending for

mortgages in the area. Until that happens take all predictions with a pinch of salt.

This conflicts with the Oxford scientists working on the Skippool excavation whose report was posted on here last year. Their calculations showed that a rift between Skippool and Lytham would result in Blackpool being cut off by the inland waterway and becoming an island. Blackpool and the promenade strangely would not be flooded, but Poulton, Kirkham and most of the Fylde would be under water.
That makes more sense.

The big question is what to do about it?

China annually pumps out more CO2 than the UK has done in its entire history, the annual growth in Chinese CO2 output equals the total UK annual output.

Thus any and all efforts we make at de-carbonisation are essentially wasted.
That's a poor way of looking at it. The UK, as well as all ecologically responsible polluting nations need to take action. The fact that another country pollutes more than us is no excuse for giving up.

Correct

Correct...you are no expert.

Correct

Correct...you are no expert.

Thanks for confirming I was correct. But I usually am, so maybe it’s better use of your time to highlight when I’m not correct. 🤔😉

By the way, if you look at my post again you will hopefully see that it was a joke. I was being humorous and silly.

All filling a bottle when we go down to the sea 🤣🤣
And we might thereby reduce sea levels and discover MH370 🤣🤣

Do I really have to start signposting my jokes better?

No you don't. Mine was a joke as well.
