Nikal put forward their scheme but sacked their CEO, allegedly, and others in their management team disappeared. Right scheme? Blackpool needs something special worried that this is a proposal that could have gone anywhere. Need some new icons.

It's hard when the cities get the investment. Without tourism Blackpool has no raison d'ertre, apart from the needs of 140k people - which is raison d'ertre enough.
 
The only thing that prevents Blackpool being among the most desolate poverty-stricken coastal towns in England is tourism, which has transformed it into the country's favourite holiday resort. To keep this status the town has to be at the forefront of entertainment and new leisure technology. I was disappointed when Eden 2 went to Morecambe. That would have been perfect for the Fylde. I think we really need the Blackpool Central Scheme to work. If we could get rid of Central Drive at the same time that would be a bonus.

Good post. I'm assuming you mean getting ride of Central Drive as it currently is, not removing the road.
 
The whole lot needs bulldozing from Albert Road to, and including Waterloo Road. As as far East as Park Road... And from Cookson Street to Devy Road and starting all over again.
 
What doesn’t help is when the Clowncil allows previous entertainment sites like Pontins to be used for more fcuking houses 🤨
