Was just thinking of a good way to help the people of Ukraine, if we all brought an item or two ie Liquid suspension fluid (calpol) Toothbrushes / paste and shower gel / soap to the match , and we could arrange for a van or the people taking supplies to be on the car park, we could make such a massive difference to the effort ! Any thoughts Seasiders ?

The general consensus from the people who know these things is that all this collecting stuff is very nice, but in the grand scheme of things, donating your money to an organisation that can get the really useful stuff in bulk and delivered to where it needs to be is far more effective.
I tend to agree after all there will be other countries doing their bit and they could get overwhelmed with certain items. On the other hand I want to be sure that every penny of my donations will go to Ukraine and not sure which is the best charity to give to for that.

The Disasters Emergency Committee (which includes the British Red Cross, Oxfam & Save the Children) is probably the leading national fundraiser...

Or there's the Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain, who have very close ties with those affected, and have sent funds for the use of the Ukrainian Red Cross...

Nice thought but it looks like there are already enough ideas. Just donate through your newspaper?

I have donated to the DEC, it is frustrating for probably most of us to know how to help, hands on so to speak ! Being a Dad/ grandad it’s unimaginable what people are having to deal with ☹️
