Blackpool North or South?

This season I'll be coming on the train from Manchester. Salford to Blackpool South is 1hour48 with a change in Kirkham but nearer Bloomfield Road and Salford to Blackpool North is direct, and 1hour10 but further away. Given that I'll be making the journey 30 odd times, which station is better? Is a walk from Blackpool North a mission?

I face this dilemma myself coming from Manchester for Blackpool games, I tend to go from Blackpool North as I hate changing trains. It's a nice stroll down the Prom to the ground as well.

Depends if you're arsed about the change, I'd rather get the direct train and walk for 25 minutes than wait at another station for 20 minutes for the change, but that's just me personally. The less time I spend actually commuting the better. When you think about it, the journey is very close if you count the walk from Blackpool North considering to Blackpool South it is 1 hour 48 minutes, it's just whether you want to walk as part of your journey or be dropped off right near the ground.

North station for me. That said I do meet friends in the Brew Room so it obviously makes sense in my case.

However, even without that, I’d be going to North for the simple reason I always walk if possible. That includes in London as well. Not because I deliberately avoid the tube, but because it’s a bit of exercise after being sat down and you get to see the areas/sights.

If I fancy a drink we go by train , we go via north , been told south can be unreliable

best trains are the non stop direct man picc to Preston , dosnt seem so long , then , Preston to b north !

Adding a change into any train journey involves an element risk, so if it was me l would use BPN as others have said the train from Kirkham to BPS can have it’s moments.

The main risk being you might have to change at Preston for Blackpool South and that's going to put a dampener on your day..

I always used to find it a problem on the return journey. Waking up in Penrith via Bolton was a particularly notable one and still no idea what happened 🤪🍻

Use RealTimeTrains on your mobile and whilst on your Blackpool North train, check when you come into Preston if there's a Blackpool South train about to come in shortly after which you could jump across to, and if not, stay on your Blackpool North train. That way, you get the best of both worlds.

Is there a Tram v No7 thread? And will Tangerine Tickets be available again on Blackpool Transport?

Anyone else seen the lovely new Tangerine bus stops dotted around Anchorsholme/Cleveleys, I know Allez doesn’t live round these parts but even he would fail to walk into one of them!

I always come in at Blackpool North. Arrive around midday which gives me plenty of time to have a pint or three and walk, if necessary to the ground. My train home leaves around 18.20 which again gives me time to walk and have a couple of pints before catching my train.

As Mex has pointed out the exercise is good for you, including exercising your right arm. 🍻👍

Depends what ticket you have, if you bought one for BPN and change at Preston to BPS they will charge you for that journey it’s happened to me in the past!

Pop into Yorkshire Fisheries for a Fish and chip lunch.

If raining there is a regular bus outside or short walk to Tram stop.

Yes there is the option of “all terminals”
