Blackpool was an incredible place in 1954. It still has some of that left but you can feel the entrepreneurialism of the place back then watching that film.

My grandads claim to fame within the family was that he was the first to bring the seaside post card photo opportunity thing to Blackpool where you stick your head through the hole with a caricature painted in the background. I always thought it was BS, but my mum god bless her swore blind it was true and was brought up in his funeral as a memory/anecdote.

One things for sure, they don’t make them like they used to. I love films like this, seeing so many people back in the day just enjoying the simple pleasures in life, quite a stark reminder of how lucky we are not having to live through wars and tremendous hardship which impacted on every one. Be thankful for what you have .

Blackpool was built on hope and fun and kindness and dreams and escapism - and despite all the media negativity about our town, plenty of it still exists.
