Thankfully there are no potholes, no homeless and no litter in Blackpool so this is good way to spend council tax.
Are straight people allowed to use it though.Thankfully there are no potholes, no homeless and no litter in Blackpool so this is good way to spend council tax.
….or a spare tin….It is close to the end of the financial year. Perhaps the Council had some spare tine of rainbow paint lying around.
Surely that’s not a proper zebra crossing is it ???

Let's hope there no accidents at any, is it even a legal crossing?
Nice to see colour going in but not sure this is the best use of it...
Should paint sections of the town tangerine.
Actually it's not a zebra crossing that one, it's at traffic lights. So just where people cross and people would still have to press the button etc. Hopefully there's no confusion there for cars etc.Surely that’s not a proper zebra crossing is it ???
Money is put into separate pots to be spent on specific things. Pointless people moaning it could be spent on potholes as this money isn't for that and won't be movedHow much would this cost and could the money REALLY be put to better use? Let's not forget that the LGBTQ community puts a lot of money into Blackpool's economy.
Yes it is legalWhat a virtue signaling waste of council tax money, which increases year on year.
Is the crossing even legal now?
Definition: Zebra crossings are marked by black and white painted strips across the road and flashing amber globes called 'Belisha beacons.
Capital G for the big man, please.Dear god
Indeed. And even if there was the flexibility to choose where to spend this, it will be a relatively small spend that would probably equate to a few potholes max.Money is put into separate pots to be spent on specific things. 16k I got told could be bull. How much would this cost and could the money REALLY be put to better use? Let's not forget that the LGBTQ community puts a lot of money into Blackpool's economy.
£16K won't be far off, any work of this nature doesn't come cheap nowadays.16k I got told could be bull.
I don't actually mind it but there's a hell of a long way to go to sort that area of town out.
Some of the buildings are dumps and the majority of bars awful.
Have the Gay community got the will or money to make it a Gay Village as it can't be left all to the council painting the odd road.
Not sure.
The funding used for this project was specifically designated for enhancing public spaces and isn’t money that can be used for regular highway maintenance. The highways team prioritise works for over 300 miles of roads in the town based on a condition survey. Any issues on the roads can be reported but may (will) be left. The zebra crossings cost a rumoured £2,500 each. Not sure on the junction of Dixon/SpringfieldIndeed. Perhaps the bigger irony here is that the gay community love pot holing. The funding used for this project was specifically designated for enhancing public spaces and isn’t money that can be used for regular highway maintenance. It’s the same kind of idiots who spoilt the latest Banksy. It never crossed my mind that anyone would want to deface either of these. The BPL Bible
We can confirm that the crossing near to banks street has been defaced before 9pm this eveningwww.facebook.com
I bet that wouldn't be allowed though would it, might offend someone.
Those crappy mini roundabouts would be fair game too!!I bet that wouldn't be allowed though would it, might offend someone.
That's what annoys people about all this inclusivity shite, it seems to only be when it's about including minorities or whatever the popular agenda is.
You're in the wrong place STW. This is the Fulminating Clinic. How much would this cost and could the money REALLY be put to better use? Let's not forget that the LGBTQ community puts a lot of money into Blackpool's economy.
Yes , spotted the news about the defacing on the BBC website, doesn't improve Blackpool' s image. The BPL Bible

They're not the correct colours now Chunks of Englands National Flag according to Nike!
…..or we could leave a universally recognisable safe road crossings as they are and spend money where it’s actually needed…Actually, AVFTT has come up with a solid idea for once.
We could have a whole series of themed zebra crossings throughout the town, the theme could be pertinent for where the crossing is.
That way the rainbow crossing wouldn't look like overly focusing only on a minority but just part of a wider town approach. The crossings would be selfie bait as well as points of interest.
We could have a BFC crossing, a tower crossing, rainbow crossing, a golf crossing, a theater crossing a bit like Chicago did with those painted cows.
That wasn't done by Nike.
And for those fretting about the cost we could have a zebra crossing outside the zoo.Actually, AVFTT has come up with a solid idea for once.

It's a safety issue imo. A rainbow painted across the road doesn't suggest a ZEBRA crossing to drivers.…..or we could leave a universally recognisable safe road crossings as they are and spend money where it’s actually needed…
Hahaha Jesus Christ mateNext people will be forced to take the knee before crossing it.
It's funny the level of focus it's given isn't it though, paint some colour around the town usually no media cares and there's graffiti all the time that gets zero press. But I guess this suits the narrative.Yes , spotted the news about the defacing on the BBC website, doesn't improve Blackpool' s image.
Hang on, that's not AVFTT, that's mineActually, AVFTT has come up with a solid idea for once.
