Blackpool v Bristol Rovers Official Matchday Thread 23.12.23

Get in. Hopefully we can string a couple of wins together now. I think that's 8 wins in 9 at home which bodes well.

Was worried in the 2nd half for a bit - thought we lost a bit of intensity at 2-1 and let them get on top. Should have kept at them as they were quite suspect at the back when pressed. But a good 3 pts in the end.

What happened with their goal? Was Grimmy at fault? Couldn't really see what happened from the South. Amazing stop by him at the end either way!

two bookings for nothing, gave dembele no protection at all and he was bei ng kicked all over the park from the first minute, how many times were dembele, rhodes beasley and hamilton deliberately pulled back and no decsion taken. granted not the worst weve seen but its a very low bar.
Hence my question why no Rovers players received a yellow!!

Yep, there are some real entitled bell ends at the moment, 3-1 home win and all they can do is moan about Connolly and the club ‘not being honest with them’. Boo hoo hoo.
It's the away form that's a worry, not so much home, we need to sort that out and when better than the next 2 games and put our Christmas curse to bed.

its ok FOLKS knobbers in nuclear meltdown mode. club issues statement backing ryan lower division and promoted never ever. PRICELESS

That was a typical home performance. Some very good attacking play. The challenge is that will probably most likely follow that up with an away defeat. Some dodgy moments at the back but deserved the win.

Fans couldn't be arsed in the first half. Bristol Rovers were right singing football in a library. Second half much improved.

Grimshaw 8 - Some important saves.
Lyons 6 - Not his best game and looks very out of position. He was up against a decent player (Blondie) for them.
CJ 8 - Very good and did some good defensive work.
Pennington 7 - Solid enough
Connolly 8 - Gets stick but thought he did very well.
Husband 7 - Defensively sound but wasteful in possession at times.
Norburn 8 - Great goal and performance
Carey 7 - Solid game
Dembele 9 - Incredible
Rhodes 8 - Great finish after good vision from Joseph
Beesley 8 - Worked his socks off and deserved his goal.

Thought they were a decent side but dodgy in defence.

Enjoyed todays match. Got colder in the second half but the football more than compensated. Just need to find that elusive consistency and take it into the next match. Some hairy moments at the back but an early second half goal and the third helped settle the nerves.

State of you in this thread though. Loud boos? Wanting your club back? Do you not think it makes you looks a bit silly?
Still stands as I'm sure we will follow it up with a limp away performance like we normally do. Home form isn't the issue.

Beesley 8? Get a grip man, him and Lyon’s are the weak links in the team although in Lyon’s defence he’s that out of position it’s not fair on the guy. CJ left and Gabriel right would be miles better but suppose that’s too obvious. If he’s adamant about playing CJ on the right actually Thompson would be the better bet left wing back. And yes I am aware Beesley scored but Joseph or Lavery are twice the player Beesley is.

Beesley was decent. What makes you think Joseph is twice the player? He looked poor apart from his assist for Rhodes which was very good and hopefully showed there is some potential.

Lyons was up against a good player but he lost the battle far too easily. Definitely a weak link today.

Great win.

Played the right sort of game too.

What would a win against NT and CU done? I think that where it frustrates. So close to being a real force in this League.

Dembele needs signing up, lol, I know, but he does. If the model is to buy young and sell him on for good profit and you need convincing, I give you Exhibit A. The lad isn't up to speed yet and if, or rather when he does get there, he's going to one hell of a player.

Just got home and having a large whisky for celebratory and warm-up purposes.

That was a great game and we were given a good test by a decent side, but we were better. Our loan players - Dembele and Rhodes - were the key to our win and we need to be making serious efforts to bid for them in January.

In other good news, Beees has finally come good and Kyle Joseph shows signs of becoming good.

Let's have ourselves a very merry Christmas and an even happier Tangerine New Year.

Any win is a good win. Our home form is very decent but so many times this season we fail to back it up in the next game.

For every win we have a Cambridge in us. If we can find some consistency then the play off's look a sound bet, fingers crossed.

The team is not what I would have picked but that's not my job and it got a good win!

Equally I don't buy into people getting offended on a forum, the whole point is that we can come on here and express our opinions, thoughts and or frustrations. One man's chatting sh1t is another man's agreement. Peace out and Merry Christmas ya filthy animals.

Worst atmosphere I've ever heard at Bloomfield Road. People have accepted mediocrity and not arsed.
Are you ever happy?? reading your comments just convinces me you know nothing about the game and rather clueless, come back to me with what you want, but i dont think you have much between your ears football wise

So shall I lie and say it was a brilliant atmosphere. Bristol Rovers fans were singing football in a library and they were right.

Shall we just lie and pretend otherwise?

Funny how they have all gone quiet.
We are still ridiculously easy to score against.
Played well and deservedly took lead but all that was undone 4 minutes later.
Bristol played well and had a lot of chances prior to our 3rd goal.
Happy with the win, we needed it to stay in contention. Dembele is worth the entrance fee on his own. He is the heartbeat of the team.
