Blackpool v Fleetwood Official Matchnight Thread 09.04.24

I'm guessing Charlie or one of his coaches were watching us yesterday & will have a game plan for Tuesday.
He'll have the Cods pressing our defence and closing us down in the midfield.
It will be a physical game, with not much entertainment, which I can see us winning 2-1.

If we are keeping this unrealistic "Playoff dream" we will need all three on Tuesday.
Bare in mind we should of got 3 points at highbury for that "amazing" comeback.

The next time we drop points will be the end of our season. We need to batter the Cods on Tuesday and just hope Oxford and Lincoln slip up. Christ knows who will start up front, I'd maybe try Joseph and Kouassi.

very big win required whist playing quick attacking football
I think that's what is needed in the next two games. Can't believe for a minute we'll get in the Play Offs (nor actually am I sure I want us to as I think it'd be more embarrassing!) however a couple of really big moral boosting wins might just actually end the season on a positive.

Luckily Oxford have got posh. So i dont think oxford will get 3 points from that fixture and then they have got Lincon which isnt good for us.

Atleast lincon have pompey last game of the season so that could give us hope 🤞🤞Still dont think we will go up or ready for the champo.

Same here . We re the playoff kings but ...this time, if we did get into the playoffs nowhere near well enough equipped to win them .
Perchance we fluked it then ...there'd be serious serious early summer recruitment needed right down to the tea lady ( no offence love 😉)

I give us about a 1 in 10 chance

Got to go with a goalcorer and of the four that is Lavery and it's a toss up for the rest!
Yet Beesley has most goals this season. Lavery was beyond useless when he came on, at the weekend. It's a major issue as we know they are all so much better than their recent showings.

I think we should of kept Dobbie at the end of last season. He brung something we havent had since we were in the premiership... Exciting games, full on attack, full on press. I think we should of kept him.

(unpopular opinion come at me🤷‍♂️)
Can’t disagree, couldn’t have been worse surely.

I dont think its an unpopular opinion, it suited us for the last 5 games or so. There was nothing to lose so Dobbie could get away with being attack minded as it was more than last chance saloon. The thing with me, is I assume Dobbie doesnt have the contacts, and doesnt have the experience. But then again, where are all these up and coming young players from Liverpool that Critchley was bringing in. The club is meant to be set up with a recruitment department and the "Head Coach" coaches the players. So Maybe Dobbie is the answer, but surely there is someone out there that fits both of the criteria

Current crop of strikers (Rhodes aside who is not our player) are league 2 level. Apparently bought for potential but Joseph and Kouassi could probably do with a loan move for next season. What has happened to Lavery is a real shame, he probably needs a change of scene for his career.
We need a complete summer refresh up front. We have lost out on Mark Harris recently and turned down Bishop. We really do need to get the final third right over the summer.

im not even kidding if we come out flat and don’t win Critchley should be sacked after the game.

The last meaningful game of this boring ass season so the last chance to make a memory/impression with a chance to all but relegate our annoying gnat neighbors.

If we can’t come out then heads should roll.

Already embarrassed ourselves against them earlier in the season, can’t do it again.

& the midfield and the defence, then we might start to go places.

I can see a Fleetwood win if they come with positive intent, we pose so little attacking threat whatever combination of forwards we use that the opposition don't need to be defensively minded.
If Fleetwood are brave they will probably get a win. If they are cagey and sit back we will slowly bore them into a 1 0 defeat.

I'd worry more if they sat in and hit us on the counter. Most teams that open the game up at Bloomfield Road get beaten, especially those at the bottom. The conditions will be a leveller but hopefully the forecasted dry weather rocks up at 5pm to make the surface slick. Every game is 'do or die' at this stage, so the players should have clear minds.

Weather looks better for tonight but still terrible with 30mph winds and gusts up to 40mph.

Hopefully it’s called off.

Said the same last week, although that was plus a Cambridge loss? Dobbie once again in temporary charge against Carlisle.

How would you feel as a manager if your teams supporters were chanting the opposition managers name.
If we want rid of Critchley this could be the way to go, it would be so embarrassing.

We shouldn't lose this game, even though we aren't at our best as we should have too much for them. However, should we go behind, I think we would struggle to break them down and that would create a really negative atmosphere. Let's hope Critch throws away his coaching manual and takes off the shackles. But if we do lose I think the crowd reaction will make his position untenable. Whilst I'm fed up of Critch's tactics I'm hoping for a positive performance tonight.
