Blackpool v Oxford Official Matchday Thread 10.02.24

Worrying thing was I thought Oxford looked a better team than Stevenage. I was more disappointed with Charlton performance than today's offering. We have missed a fully fit Rhodes. Next couple of week's vital we push on.

I've tried to hold out with Critchley but my support is waning. What does his teams do? What is their marque? They put in effort but beyond that I see nothing distinctive.
To be fair it was an evenly matched game today, exciting and could have gone either way. It's not todays game that's the problem, a draw was probably what it should have been, it's games like the ones at Stevenage, Burton, Cambridge and the majority of the away games, that is where we really are clueless and Critchley has no idea how to get it right, we are top of the home league form but right down the bottom of the away, That's not the players, that's the tactics and that has to be Critchley's fault. We won't stay in this league because of todays result or performance, we have lost it because of being absolutely shit away from home.

Look what Wellen's is doing with Orient! He would have been a much better manager than the boring ** we have now.

Norburn is not good enough, end of, too slow and his passing is terrible. Lavery is not great either and I would guess he,, Carey and Connolly will be released at the end of the season.

I have no idea where Joseph should be playing, but wide left of a front 3 is not it, we need to play 2 up top, not one.

I liked Wellens when he brought his team to Bloomfield. He lives the game and I've no doubt he's an inspiring figure.

ask yourself what players in this squad actually get into the likes of Portsmouth, Derby and Boltons squad. There is literally casey, dembele, Rhodes and Byers (tho he looked shit in his 20 minutes today)

People called for Gabriel but the 2 he’s started he may aswell not have played, cj is shit, Marv shit, penny is a mid table player, Lyons has potential, Connolly shit, kylian potential, Joseph potential, Lavery shit, norburn mid table, Morgan mid table, virtue mid table.

It’s a squad of average players, the manager isn’t blameless, but the players we have aren’t world beaters that some seem to think

In the first line of diatribe it's "exciting" and in the last line it's "boring".

As is normally the case with your drivel, the only thing that is consistent is the idiot writing it.

And who brought the players in that you don’t rate?

Nope it 3-5-2
I'm reading the match thread and responding to this post without reading what comes in the next 7 pages. The team selection was probably more 3-4-3 than 3-5-2 but the players could quite easily have fit into 4-3-3.
But we didn't actually play in a fixed formation which will disappoint the armchair supporters who like to use 3-5-2 as a firestick to beat us with. We float about between all those formations.
We didn't win today because we don't pass quickly and accurately enough and don't play with "cool heads".
I'll carry on reading the next 7 pages now.

Quite enjoyed the game we were saved by the woodwork .
However I disagree they were better than us as I'm sure the stats will show.
Thought it was an even game and draw is about right.
Marv and Husband concern me when we are under pressure.
Season mot over yet but not sure if I would bet against us finishing 8th .
Marv IMO is becoming a liability he doesn't confidant and looks uncomfortable with the ball at his feet

We have not passed quickly most of the season. Sadly, it is made worse when Marvin plays.

We seem to concede a lot of goals via crosses across the six yard box as Grimshaw is passive and doesnt control his 6 yard box. Not sure why Critchley finds that acceptable, as he always keeps his place.
Critchley persevering with what can only be described as a rather limited player? Are you sure about that?

Then again, thinking about it, I shouldn't bother with the reply ...
