Blackpool v Peterborough Official Matchday Thread 28.10.23

Big game and will be very different to Tuesday. Peterborough will want to play their game and with JCH up top they pose a threat constantly. Tuesday first half felt like a friendly. Definitely won’t be the case Saturday come 15:00.

I think Dembele is going to grow and grow for us. He creates space elsewhere and makes our attack very unpredictable. CJ seems to like playing off of him too. Dembele to start, Rhodes double and a Blackpool 4-1 win (we’ve still got a mistake up our sleeves)

I’ve told you about your 4-1 predictions before 😂

I understand Peterborough aren’t playing too well at the moment, despite their results, so it’s another good chance to pick up three points.
I would just love it if we beat them - is there a bigger triumvirate of cunts in world football than MacAnthony, Fry and Ferguson?

Usual Peterborough set up under Darren Ferguson I imagine. Dangerous going forward but slack & wide open at the back.

I listened to MacAnthony on talk sport today.

Lacks a bit of confidence, needs to believe in himself more.

dearly wish I was going tomorrow but just can’t fit the journey in for home games . I feel nervous for the first time this season, which suggests to me that this is our biggest game so far. Finally hit top 6 and playing a team that will finish top 6 in all likelihood. A true test of our ambitions and quality tomorrow. I think NC may drop Dembele and use him as an impact sub for this one on basis of his interview in the gazette, we will see. Come on you mighty Tangerines

Vale supporting mate said Peterborough were poor in the week but just not as poor as Vale

Excellent use of the word triumvirate, about time we raised standards and introduced a touch of class to proceedings. Fighting a losing battle unfortunately with some of our lot 😀

Don't think JCH has been a starter recently.
Can only think it's attitude after not getting a move because he's always been a handful.

It's a good test but nothing we can't pass if we hit our levels.

If we do perform well and manage to show our class, we'll be seen as more serious contenders.

The big plusses are Rhodes in in form, Lavery just scored, Dembele too.

Need a Kouassi goal.

I hope I'm proved wrong but that does not look like a winning team to me. N C obviously sees something in Carey that I don't. Fingers crossed he's got it right.

One or two strange choices in midfield as usual. Good to see Husband back.
Not so sure they're strange to be honest, Oakley-Boothe is obviously seen as a replacement for Norburn, Dougall has been in decent form and was always going to be in there. Both CJ and Thompson have been good recently, the only slight disappointment is that Dembele isn't in for Carey.

Hmmmm - not convinced by Carey AND Oakley Boothe. One or the other perhaps but then I’m not that convinced by either of them individually. Can only assume this is based on video analysis of the Posh ( or the lucky 🎱!!)

I’d rather see Morgan and Dembele tbh though it’s good to see Kouassi start again.

The usual reactionary stuff, if you take into account that Norburn is still injured why is it so awful? The best 3 in defence, CJ has to play and Thommo is a natural wing back. OB has come in to replace Morgan for more steel in midfield our best 2 attackers up front, the only one that could be seen as hmm, is Carey but if they allow him to play more forward he could do well. Dembele creates but doesn't defend and Posh are a different proposition to Cheltenham and 30 minutes of Dembele at the end will put the fear god god in them, I fully expect the usual careful play for the first 40 minutes and see if we can get an early goal and will pick it up in the second half, it's always going to be a tactical battle with Critchley.
