On a day when Saudi Arabia beat Argentina at the World Cup it sparked a memory. I seem to remember when I was growing up in Blackpool in the 1970s that Blackpool beat Saudi Arabia 5-0. Anyone else remember that? Or did I just dream it?

Yes, I was there, and I remember the Gazette reporting that some Blackpool fans were exchanging their scarves to the Saudis, sat in the West Stand, for £5.

It was 6 0. I was in the South Paddock. Hesford received a throw in back to him, let it go under his studs and just got back to it before it went in the net. Can't remember any of the goals though.

That was a great team we had back then. What a disaster was in store for us all though.
I remember really enjoying that game even though I couldn’t remember the opposition or the final score.
