Blackpool v Sunderland Official Matchday Thread 01.01.23

Maxwell,CJ,Poveda,Lavery,Madine all having very good games and no one letting the the side down, now the same second half please

Well deserved lead at half time, let's hope we can get another couple in the second half. Good game to watch again too, shame the ref is such dick!

Massive to get that first goal. Much better feel to it all today so far with the set up and the jobs the players are being asked to do looking a lot clearer.

There's a reaction to come from Sunderland and our ability to cope with seeing a job through for 95 minutes hasn't been the best so far this season so just fingers crossed this doesn't end up the usual story.

Much better, Connolly and Poveda worry me with their yellow cards, but today looks like we have a game plan that the players have understood and is working.
Amad and Roberts the obvious threats, their keeper doesn't look very convincing.
Can Appleton make the changes and give the talk that will get us a result?
No good just saying same again because Sunderland will be approaching this next 45 differently.

Just hope we don’t sit back in the second half and try to defend the lead, we’ve got form for that and it never works

Currently out of the bottom 3. Need another or I can see us dropping points again.
Pleased for Lavery & CJ. Poveda also having a decent match so far. This ref seems a bit card happy. Absolutely must avoid picking up a red this 2nd half.

Much improved. Surprising when you play the likes of CJ. Still think Lavery should be upfront but can’t argue with his contribution on the wing so far.

That was a great save and then a real scrap, come on Pool, need to ride this then get control again or get them on the break. Cracking game!

Anyone else noticed Sonny has been on his backside twice again today having slipped - someone needs to look at the lad’s studs!
