Blackpool v Swansea Official Matchday Thread 12.03.22

I was wondering how it left him, but I don't think they can sell anyone at the moment?
If they can’t sell tickets they won’t be allowed to sell players. They can’t even offer new contracts to a few who will become free agents at the end of the season.

Allez will be orgasmic tonight.
Not with pool, but with his ex boyfriend's team losing after being 2 up.
None so bitter as a man scorned.

🤣

Man of the match? Tough one, the back 4 were superb, great return from Hubby and a full 90 minutes, Sterling was absolutely brilliant as was James and Marv gave another of his composed performances the midfield 3 were excellent and Stewart standout again. Up front Bowler was superb again but should have scored at least one, Kirk was excellent but looked knackered with 20 to go and Madine had his best game in a tangerine shirt, won everything, held it up beautifully, great goal and defended well when needed to.

So for me it has to go to Gary with Dujon a close second along with Marv.

A quick shout out for Grimshaw. He may not have had many saves to make, apart from the one terrific tip over late in the second half, but he controlled his box absolutely brilliantly today, his positioning was top class and I don't think we have had as good a keeper as him since probably George Wood!! Old Maxie is going to struggle to get back in the team.

Swansea reminded me of us in League One when we tried that possession above all else tactic, truly is boring to watch and I think only teams that have superior players in near every position like City can get away with it. When it doesn't work like today it must be unbelievably frustrating to watch for Swansea fans, nearly 80% possession and they had 1 shot on target

What an immense season we're having, quite unbelievable really. Let's keep above the Nobbers till April 5th then really rub salt in the wound. Up the the ** Pool 🍊

And just like that we're becoming the 1-0 specialists , the George Graham's arsenal of the championship , the table looks a little bit better tonight. Good thing cause I look at it 5 times a day.

Quite impressive what Madine is doing really considering his ability to contribute in the championship was massively doubted by everyone , his former champ clubs are shocked he's still making a living from what I've seen , a punchline after some quite unproductive tenures following moves for decent money.

But he's rejuvenated himself, with him and keogh it seems the critch magic works on the older pros too.

Actually found todays game a bit boring to be honest. It felt a bit flat from both teams and not really played at a tempo that ive become used to watching in the championship.

Couldnt care less though after another great result against a more established more experienced team at this level.

Is promotion on? Probably not but nice to be in a position to dream.

Great 3 points but the edge taken off it by how much they dominated possession.
I know they didn't penetrate - but nevertheless they gave us a bit of a footballing lesson.
If we could keep possession like that with our talented front line - we'd be in the play off zone for sure.

Same here. In a strange way us going ahead so early kind of killed the game as a spectacle. I’m not complaining though.

Agree with all that apart from Bowler….personally I thought he was poor today..looked tired and in need of a rest / taking out of the limelight for a game.
Absolutely not faulting his work rate but maybe tries too hard and instead of laying off a simple pass he continues to try and get another man. At least twice today there was a teammate in a far better position. As for his 1 on 1 ..we’ll let’s just say it was a great pass by Stewart and these things happen. However, a second just before half time would have killed them off.

Would not like to watch that every week but a win is a win. Bowlers shooting radar completely off today but he’s scored enough recently to be forgiven. Will be interesting to see the match stats . Swansea passing domination seemed to continually break down as they got near or into the goal area, just as well. Decent turn out and volume from Swans fans. Nice not to shiver away a match. Onwards and upwards.

they literally have one way of playing, you can see why they are not doing so well. as much as they look a decent side ability wise they have no spark at all. i dont think they really did anything at all that got their crowd going. we probably should have buried them today, so many missed chances. but another win another three points, and probably a tactical masterclass from the tangerine Yoda. three points and clean sheet have we

Hubby fantastic again, returning from injury, what he player he has been for us these last 2 seasons. Seems under rated and under appreciated by some Pool fans to me.

He and Marv great again, Dujon had a great game, Ks and KD their usual obstinate selves in front of the defence. Madine playing the best football I've seen him play lately.

An absolutely prancing ** of a ref. im surprised he didnt penalise marv at the goal, he had his arm around one player but there were two pulling on him, kind of goes to show just how physically strong he his.

Anyway back to the prancing ** of a ref, there was one point where he was running across the pitch like a dressage pony. made me chuckle. and the liner on the eastt touchline seemed not to know what offside was.

I didn’t enjoy the way we played, but it worked, the midfield, Stewart and Dougall were immense and the defence was fantastic. I thought James had a really good game today, and Madine, until he tired was good.
it wasnt an enjoyable game to watch, we didnt really get any proper possession to play our game, and Swansea never really looked like scoring.

Its our biggest weakness, passing and possession we give it away too cheaply.

Pressing game is one of the best out there.
