At yesterday’s game over our pre-match pint, my prediction was a 5-0 win for Blackpool (as it always is, I‘m an eternal optimist) and my mate asked if I’d ever seen Blackpool win 5-0 !

My response was to tell him of the 5-0 win against Watford on New Years Day 1972 ……… I also told him Dave Lennard scored the first of Blackpool’s goals and it was also the first League goal scored in 1972.

I know the result and date are correct, but have I dreamt the bit about “the first league goal scored in 1972”, does anyone know please ?

Oh ! Good win yesterday …….. has the corner been turned ?
 
Dave Lennard? Signed from Halifax? If it was him, my recollection is that he didn’t sign for us until a bit later.
 
We beat Wigan Athletic 5-0 (at their place )as recently as 26th January 2021.Unfortunately behind closed doors due to Covid
 
OMDAYS i was even twelve. But i do remember GRAHAM ..... CANT remember his name signing my match day ticket when he was manager at watford. somewhere in the old West Paddock. nice guy.
 
I think you'll find that DL scored the first goal of the year in a 4 - 2 win at home to Burnley. I can't remember who scored the others but Frank Casper scored for the Clarets

I was at a 7-1 thrashing of Halifax late 80s..maybe a night game?
I also remember us beating Bristol Rovers at home 6-1 then thrashing PortVale away 6-1 the next game. Paul Stewart Scored five in the two games.

This was my 1st ever Blackpool game, A friend of my Mums took me, was in the Scratching Sheds

I think you'll find that's wrong. We beat Burnley 4 2 that season at Easter. A hat trick by Keith Dyson , the other from Alan Suddick.
 
I seem to remember 6-0 against Bury and also an evening home win 6-0against Carlisle went with a pal who is a Carlisle fan 🤷🏽‍♂️ I agree I’ve never seen a 7-0 yet🤞
