Grew up in Blackpool - I cannot think of a better place on the planet for a young lad. Jealous buggers
From memory during our premier league year the only fans that didn’t sing that were Liverpool - I liked that - almost as much that great win - just sayingEvery team has sung this so far. Out of all the teams in this league, would any of them have a point? Bournemouth for me . And I do like Bristol.
Its still a shithole whatever way you try and dress it up. That's why it's sang. And yet you could walk through many times and not see anything particularly abnormal. Might not be the best looking street but walking towards the prom, turn left after walking down and you then heading towards winter Gardens.
So a tourist entering sees a nice Talbot gateway, an average street, town centre or front depending which way they go.
It's not like it's skid row.
The reality is most coming for matches drive here, down yeadon way tree lined road, seasiders way all nice, park up come to the football and sing it anyway despite seeing nothing shite at all.
jim bowen and slated by the morecambe tourist board lolThe most exciting thing in some of these northern towns they come from, is when they all gather round to watch the damn traffic lights change.
I mean FFS.
They stand the dead up in bus shelters to make it look busy.
I was meant to be born in Blackpool (would have loved being a sand grown un ),but unfortionaly it was Wolverhampton(but in my heart ).It is what it is, we are what we are.
Blackpool is, and always was, a different kind of town to any other in the country.
I am proud to be born in Blackpool.
I remember going to Germany in the Army in January 1954, many of my squad mates loved Blackpool, wherever they came from.
Of course joining the Army as FA Cup winners following the so called 'Matthews Final' helped as most were in awe of Sir Stan.
OK, Blackpool has changed, part of the reason was the high number of young people who came when the Government, Tory,
stopped a certain benefit for those at home with their parents. Many left home and went where there was plenty accommodation.
This is not a Political statement, it's what happened.
Stands by for Tory attack.
PS, I think you're accepted by now.I was meant to be born in Blackpool (would have loved being a sand grown un ),but unfortionaly it was Wolverhampton(but in my heart ).
Boris Idiot wants to level everything up so every where will be in the same toilet !Every team has sung this so far. Out of all the teams in this league, would any of them have a point? Bournemouth for me . And I do like Bristol.
Isn't New Hall Lane where they take the door steps in at night ?New Hall Lane in Utopia, Lancashire.
actually cheltenham is awful i was suprised when visiting how run down and rough the town centre was it was worse for nomarks and beggars than blackpoolNot many clubs in the North of England or Midlands have much of a case in the shit hole stakes.
I love the North but most of the urban areas with professional football clubs aren't particularly easy on the eye.
I suppose none shit hole based clubs would be Norwich, Cheltenham, Harrogate, Shrewsbury, Exeter, Cambridge there may be others but every major town in England probably has quite a large area dedicated to shit hole status.
Well they can't sing it either then!! Must've gone downhill, not been for about 10 years.actually cheltenham is awful i was suprised when visiting how run down and rough the town centre was it was worse for nomarks and beggars than blackpool
