Will our next game in England's second tier be in August 2024, or are we looking at 29 years in the lower divisions as happened between 1978 and 2007?

Last time, between 2015 and 2021 we were in Leagues One and Two for six seasons. Even though I would love it to happen, I find it hard to believe we will come straight back up

This is probably the best shape we've ever been in when faced with a relegation from level 2.

1978, we had a crumbling stadium and football hooliganism reducing crowds to nothing.

2015, we had a fan boycott and owners spending more time dealing with court cases than football matters.

In 1978 there was a mass exodus of our top players. They already knew they were going hence the dip in form.
The likes of Walsh, Hatton and Ainscow for starters.
It didn’t help when our star signing Tynan was badly injured pre-season and never played football again.

I was at that game, Burnley away (I think) We signed him from Tranmere and was going to be a great signing.

I remember being very excited about the prospect of seeing Bobby Tynan playing for the Pool. Never got to see him ,he got injured against Man City in a pre season friendly I think It was.
