Board end of season review

Now it’s all over and we have surly failed in our ambitions for the season the board will assemble to review the season and discuss where it when wrong. Big decisions to be made, do they stick or twist with the manager/head coach, I feel he has the backing of our owner but the majority of the fans (customers) want him gone.
Whatever their decisions I think a club statement be put out ASAP so the fans know where we stand and what direction the club are going. If NC is to be released then it needs doing now and the recruitment and rebuild needs starting. If we are sticking then put out a positive spin statement acknowledging the disappointments of the season past and set out our ambitions for the new season, but let’s hear something from the club.

Spot on, but don’t hold your breath.

Blackpool FC and fan engagement/embracement/excitement/inspiration don’t seem to go together.

I would ask that if we have a longer term plan that Critchley is following and that we're a team/squad in progress, how does this marry up with loan players who've been the pick of our squad this season going, along with out of contract players and a squad that currently isn't strong enough? Not sure how a plan can work when you haven't got decent enough players that are ours under contract.
You can see the progress and building at other clubs, we look like we've a major rebuild prior to the new season, how is this going to ensure improvement from this season?

There's no such thing as a board end of season review.

Lots of bored end of season reviews on social media, though.
Yes there is. Common practice for there to be a meeting, either formal or informal to reflect and discuss strategy. If there wasn’t at our club I would be worried.

I wouldn’t be expecting a statement stating that Critch is going to be released .

Simon made it clear in his bbc lancs interview that if Critch didn’t take us up this year he would have to do it next.

We will probably get something next few weeks outlining the plans I reckon.

I’m hoping for critchley being replaced by Klopp, Dembele signed on a 3 year contract, free season tickets for over 80s, Haarland brought in, and better pies

Every other club in Leagues One and Two rely on loanees. It's the way football is these days, especially when you're naming match day squads of 18 and playing midweek most weeks.

I’m honestly not sure what people aren’t understanding. It’s not a democracy. The club is owned by SS, he appoints the board and he makes the final decision. If Critchley was going anywhere he’d be gone by now.

The fact is SS gave him a 4 year deal and has already said he’d be here next season if he didn’t get promoted as he’d need to get us promoted next season if not this one.

Critchley is SS’s man. He’s 100% the manager next season. In the interview the other day they confirmed plans are underway for next season already.

I think we all know that, but god forbid a repetition of this season’s borefest

It’s been said by SS - if we’re not promoted this season then NC has to get us promoted next season.

So the expectations are simple. Promotion.

Now SS doesn’t strike me as a man that will want to be proven wrong and he certainly won’t want those that have given him grief these last few seasons to be right… so I imagine Critchley will be well supported and we’ll see a very competitive squad assembled.

With NC it's all charisma.
Der, err, yeah, yu know, did you know that I've had a personality by-pass?
Sign some decent players, go back to 442 and prove us wrong next season Neil - 'cos I doubt you're moving on.

You missed what the players think about Neil and his tactics🤷🏽‍♂️

I thought that last season, no way would he bring Critchley back and not go for it. Might just be that SS is happy for the club to stay in league 1 for now.

I doubt he's happy losing 4-5 mil a year.
Championship football means big tv money compared to the paltry amount in League 1.
He has said he wants out of the division.

If you are right then you would think Sadler would sack him or at least tell him to uck off his 5 at the back pish.

He must be furious with his refusal to change things.

I agree about the loans and Holloway’s era had some great ones, it’s a bit disingenuous though to say you’re building something when half of the players won’t be here next season. least of all the most influential ones from this one.

Did we achieve our primary objective of promotion? No

Did we achieve our secondary objective of developing new talent? Kinda sorta, not really. Grimshaw had a busy year and thus was forced to develop. Apter developed under other’s tutelage.

Did we achieve our tertiary objective of at least being in a playoff position? No ; we didn’t achieve that all season.

Does the data of the season or squad as is suggest promotion next season? No.

Is Critchley the man to take us forward? He did enjoy a one time prior success with different coaching staff but nothing since then. Food for thought.
