Brannigan just gone off injured

Brannagan replaced against Lincoln because of injury just before half time.

A bad day all round if we were after him !

Went off immediately. Looks like a longer rather than shorter term injury.
I watched the game to see how he was doing. Delighted when Lincoln scored , then Brannigan went down injured.

We can't get a break. Even our main transfer targets are getting injured.

We need players who can improve the team now, not in two months when they've regained their fitness. That said, we've no idea if it's serious so the transfer may well still happen.

Go for Fuchs cheaper option

Scouse Corden said Brannagan’s injury is the top of the hamstring/glute. ‘Not 100% sure’ of the extent of it and ‘won’t take any risks’.

If it is just a minor strain, I doubt it would stop us pursuing a deal this window. With his agent rocking the boat, it'll either be to try and get a better deal at Oxford or drum up more interest to get a move in January.

I think the lad might feel he's in a better position to enjoy Championship football next season if he stays where he is.
Sincerely hope this time next year we're not a division below Oxford, but the way we're playing and with such an extensive list of absentees, were hardly a tantalising proposition, UEFA "elite" coaching qualifications aside

Seriously, what odds would you get on us in League 1 and Oxford in Championship next season? Surely be a 20/1 shot at least?

The double is 104/1 with skybet. Which suggests the chances of us going down and them going up are very slim to say the least!

We are 20/1 alone just to get relegated.

Stranger things have happened, I remember relegation favourites being promoted to the Premier league about 12 years ago!

How many times have we laughed at the odds when we've beaten favoured teams this season?
I'm just saying it's a hell of a lot more likely that we will be in the Championship and them in League One next season than vice versa. So he would be stupid to stay there on that reckoning.

Brannagan dad has been on Twitter saying that if we trigger the release clause, believed to be £1m then he's ours. Oxford fans not happy with him.
No link then to Twitter post?

We need a central midfielder, in fact we need 2 way before we need a striker and I have seen Dale play!! I am just totally underwhelmed by Beesley I'm afraid.

Have you seen either of them play?

Because the question isn't what do we need, it's what are we going to pay and do they represent value for money?

I'm sure I could find you no end of midfielders playing L1 football (Ethan Robson for one), but it doesn't mean they're worth a million quid each.

Having read the Oxford forum they obviously hold Brannagan in high regard. They could all be wrong, but they believe the release clause fee is well below his value.

If we want to make big money on players it's more likely to happen if we pay biggish fees for players in the first place, I think. A million bon Brannagan could become a big profit in a couple of years, potentially.

And there is the dilemma, we've seen players like Ivan Toney brought in at reasonable cost and moved on for huge money. Eventually we will have to take the odd calculated gamble.

When you consider the dividend difference between league one and the championship is in the region of £6 million not accounting for uplift in gate receipts or other club commercial uplifts on top a million is not as much as it may seem.

Sometimes you have to speculate to accumulate and we are probably at that juncture but also operating within a viable financial framework which given the owners background is a given and rightly so.

You seriously think we're going down and Oxford coming up?

Get down the bookies. They will literally give you 100s to 1 on that happening.

Some of our fans must be scared of their own shadows.

Their fans are so deluded. This comment in particular.

“Good shout, if Cam goes then Yates in return plus 1.5 million, in my book that’s a fair deal, we should then get Findley and let Blackpool have their defender back”

Yates PLUS £1.5 million? Really? How thick can they get?

It'll make it all the sweeter when we sign him for less than £1M, then recall Thornily and send him to a L1 rival. 😂

It's just what happens on football message boards. Including this one. Especially when a favourite player is being courted by another club.

It doesn't mean Oxford fans are deluded. It means they are annoyed and worried about losing a key player.

I completely understand that but if that’s what they genuinely value him at then they’re going to be sadly disappointed when they don’t get that for him.

They? You're lumping them all together. I've read that forum and they seem fine, they all know he'll go for the release clause, for one thing.

“They” as in more than one. A plural if you will. If I was lumping then all together then I’d say “all of their fans are deluded”.

No way we will pay a million for an injured player no matter how good we think he is. We should look at other options particularly in the loan market we can always revisit Brannagan at the end of the season.
