Bit late to the party but was thinking of doing a thread after each game, compiling the results and then revisiting it at the end of the season.

With Hamilton it didn’t help we kept whacking stupid balls out wide not even Usain Bolt in his prime would’ve caught up with. CJ is quick but he isn’t super human

Maybe Im a bit harsh with my rating but I thought we were just ok really and being honest we probably should have narrowly lost...alls well that ends well and it was a very good point...Im a big CJ fan but he doesnt look fully fit yet and was never running full pelt using his explosive pace.

Maybe giving a 9 to someone who played for ten minutes is high, but he couldn't have played much better than he did for those ten minutes. And it's no fluke considering his play against City. There are going to be a lot of teams kicking themselves that we grabbed Lavery and they didn't.

CJ did very little but he isn't helped having a center back playing right behind him and being asked to chase down overshot long balls. Biggest criticism I can come up with is that he didn't adjust his play to how the game was going.

Maybe I posted this a little late but thanks to the 11 who replied. I’m sure this will pick up over the course of the season and we can look back over the coming months.

On average we had a score of 6.39 out of 10. Despite being on the pitch for the full match Reece James scored lowest with a 4.95 (perhaps harshly rated given he was out of position and its astep up compared to last season at Doncaster Rovers?) whilst Shayne Lavery was highest rated with a 8.23 despite playing only 10 minutes.

Elsewhere James Husband was the highest rated defender with a 6.95 and Josh Bowler, despite playing just 17 minutes came out on top in the midfield with a 7.36.

The least impressed member was @TangerineBayern with an average score of just 6.08 whilst at the other end of the scale was @NewburyOne with an average rating of 7.15.

Excellent summary that CT and hopefully it will pick up soon particularly when we get the injured players back and new players in 👍

@CumbrianTangerine - really welcome addition to AVFTT .. home games will probably give us the best impression but for someone who didn't attend Bristol City, it's a bit worrying to see James below 5. Will he be a player who is instantly replaceable and will become a bit part squad member.

P.S. You should ask AVFTT to pin your ratings thread for 24 hours after a game.

Thanks for the positive feedback. I think James was slightly harshly rated given he was out of position and playing a higher level of football he’s used to. Let’s not forget he was also up against King and James (his Brother) whom were both part of Leicester’s title winning team (even though James was injured for the entire season).

It was only one game, but he didn't look like someone who could play in a midfield 2 in the Championship. In fairness, David Vaughan never looked great in a 2! James will probably prove a useful squad member but he's a square peg in a round hole at the mo.
