Bromley v Blackpool Official Matchday Thread 04.11.23

I think if we we won every week people on here would moan, i don't get it I'm sorry i am getting more convinced that people haven't got a clue what their talking about have a very limited knowledge of the game. We won a potential banana give a good professional performance where is the positivity. Only my opinion

I think Critchley's plan was to make pressure on our defence to allow Big Marv to regain his confidence 😄

Did anyone else notice how he sidestepped anythi/g posiitve about Marv when asked in the post match interview about the man of the match? Thought that a bit graceless, wonder if there has been a falling out/

He's the best defender in the club but his passing is not great, he should keep the shirt now, he was superb tonight. I thought O'Donnell did well too and I would give him a few games now.

I fell asleep for the second half, sounds like I didn’t miss much.

I did, however, speak to a mate after the game that watched it all, we agreed that it was a fair display in first half and he went on today that it was a well managed and reasonable enough decent defensive display with Marv being outstanding.

So I then proceeded to read this thread and the amount of agenda driven negativity is palpable after the fact. Twice as many posts when we’re not going forward and creating and highlights that people just love to moan. It really isn’t doing the club any good throwing your toys out of the pram when it’s not 💯 sexy football.

My AVFTT experience is much calmer since I blocked "A Tense Grin".

All I see now is " You are ignoring content by this member. Show ignored content"

I never check the ignored content. I know it's stupid without reading it. He gets his kicks from winding people up. The Ignore button should be used more widely.

Most of the threads I read there are getting close to half of posts I'm ignoring. We seem to have some proper knobhead fans!

Hook baited to hook the last remaining whoppers! 🤣

Comfortable win, but bloody hell, they are non league, why not have a go at them second half?
Can't see us getting anything at Bolton if we play like we did second half.
I'm bored with watching Critchleys tactics, you go to football to be entertained, for your team to have go.
Another day Bromley could have had the breaks and got a draw.
Give the other team some credit it wasn’t Critchleys tactics, they pushed us back and had a right go. I think Dembele touches the ball once 2nd half, a short pass, the game passed him buy, 1st half he was sublime, hence why he isn’t an automatic starter yet, building him up slowly but surely.

We will have our best available XI at Bolton and it's a very different type of game with different expectations. Wins boost confidence. We didn't concede. Dembele Marv and Lavery all had confidence boosting performances. Lyons got back into the fold. Morgan got to play in a position he may be needed next week. Did well first half.
Totally agree but if Critchley does not take heed and drops dembele and lavery for Oakley Boothe and kouassi then I am cured of him ..we have a great chance to kick forward now..we still moly must play in the front foot as a better team would have punished us second half

We didn't play against a better team and we won. Critch isn't the idiot some people seem think he is. I don't always agree with him but everybody can see Dembele is our biggest creative threat and has goals in him too. He's going to be playing more, it's inevitable. Way too good to not play, but not necessarily all game every game.

A good win, but we had our fair share of luck.
Bromley played very well after the interval and virtually camped out in our half for long spells. They probably deserved a bit more out of the match to be honest.

In the days leading up to this fixture, we became twitchy, constantly being told about Bromley's consistency, especially at home; they had nothing to lose, the tie had been selected for BBC live evening viewing as it had "giant-killing" potential, our recent form, team selection and tactics.
We were great in the first half, nullifying their players and crowd.
There were justifiable reasons for substitutions in the second period, as the opposition made changes and threw caution to the wind.

Yes, we rode our luck at times and it's apparent some of our fringe players perhaps aren't going to turn games around, but when one takes into account the weather, surface, recent tribulations against Posh/Cods within the space of a week, then a long away journey on Friday, yesterday evening's efforts and the importance of next Saturday already looming, I'm fairly satisfied with where we stand this morning.

We are not the finished article, but I wonder how many of us would have taken today's outcome before kickoff? Was everyone confident we'd breeze through this fixture?

We're in the Second Round FFS!
We appear fairly healthy in anticipation of preparations for our next League fixture
NC might frustrate us all at times and may have invited some flak with yet more apparently spurious substitutions but I think he's continually learning about the squad, where we are and what must be done to get where we want to be.

I'm never happy unless we win convincingly, so things could indeed be better, but there is still hope, surely, that we can still make an impact this season and I'm sure there have been more miserable Sunday mornings.

We did enough, we won, we didn't concede, we scored two cracking goals, a number of players got a run out against one of the best non league teams, and we're in the bag for the next round That's all that counts for me. Well done to all those supporters who made that long trip.

A few things (as I was there live) - we almost scored at will first half and the 2 goals were good (the 2nd was breath taking tbh right in front of us)

When we broke away we real,y did motor and they couldn’t cope with out counters

2nd half Bromley we’re much improved and we seemed to tire and a lot of subs seemed to invite them on - Bromley should have s irked at least 2 late on and with 15 mins to go it was clear we weren’t !

But we’re lucky to have a squad do plenty full

Well done all those that travelled in poor weather and thanks to Bromley the townnandClub for hosting

I’m not sure it passed him by, but the ball certainly went over his head ! The most frustrating thing for me was that every time Connolly got the ball in the second half , he just punted it to their centre half . Andy Lyons must have been well pissed off with him !

Lyons
