Burnley v Blackpool Official Matchday Thread 20.08.22

How do you analyse a game like that? So many talking points but ultimately the main takeaway is that the team is willing to fight for the shirt. I didn’t want him originally but full credit to MA and all the players. Great attitude and great result. One of my favourite pool games in the last few years for sure.
Tonnes of character these last two games. Well done to the Swansea boo boys 👍🏻

It's just a jumble of loads of things that happened for me still at the moment but somewhere in that lot Appleton showed he's the more experienced manager than Kompany. With his ability to react to the game and make tactical changes and subs. Just as the red cards happened it looked like Burnley were getting punch drunk and one more move could well have killed them off.

Lavery was taking the corners because we didn't have anyone else to take them, Carey & Virtue would have taken them if they had started.

I can't make my mind up about Lavery, he's a grafter but I think his best position is in the middle not out wide, same for Jerry although I think Jerry is more suited out wide than Shane. Madine made a difference too so he will be in the reckoning for the next game and I think he will start which means Lavery or Yates will be on the bench.

I think we are just missing a few pieces of the jigsaw and the injuries haven't helped. We need to get the right players in before the window closes but the never say die attitude and the exciting football is what we have been wanting and missing pretty much since Ollie was the manager. I have absolutely no idea how this season is going to pan out, not a Scooby!

What a belter of a game that was I imagine.
Away on hols & only got half time score well after event & full time now back at campsite.
Just seen highlights. Carey’s red card looked zealotly harsh…… cynical yellow all day long. Ref bottled it as had to send the clampett off

He’s been a bit part player for ages - so give him a chance to get back into the swing of things. If he’s still missing barn doors in three weeks time, I’ll bow to your comment.
In three weeks time it’s too late, we’ll have him until at least January.
