Butler to make appearance for Lancsl

Buttler is a centrally-contracted player so his salary is paid for by the ECB not Lancashire.Who wouldn't want perhaps the best white ball cricket player in his squad?

People who like to moan for the sake of moaning. Would be nice to see him open in the next County game.

He's either a Lancashire player or not. England is fair enough- nature of the beast, but he'll play anywhere that gets him more money instead of Lancs. Wouldn't surprise me if he turned up with his IPL kit at Worcester.

As for opening in the CC. I think he played 1 4 day game last year and that was his first for 2 seasons.

For years Jimmy has hardly bowled for Lancs. He does not play 50 over, or T20 and only odd County games when the ECB allow it. Not a word is mentioned yet there seems to be double standards with Jos.

With regard to opening, Michael Vaughan suggested that it could be a possibility in the Test side under the new order. The way Josh Bohannon is batting at the moment it would do no harm as trial, with one of the openers dropping down to 3.

As I said England- fair enough although I have moaned about how they wouldn't let JA play for us and how that was having a bad impact on county cricket. That was Eng's choice and not JA's. With Buttler the choices other than Eng are his making. There is a distinction to be made between the 2.

I saw about him opening- I don't think he's up to it and besides the game isn't developed enough to warrant pinch hitters. Openers should in theory be setting the platform for the T5 players to bish bash.

Points taken, but it may be worth a shot.

The situation with Jimmy and Buttler is totally different . . . Jimmy is Lancashire born and bred and loves playing for the county. We usually get him for about 5 red ball games a season and he puts in 100%.

Buttler is still a Somerset player in my eyes and don't think he's played for Lancs for about 3 years!!!

Jimmy is also getting on a bit and has to manage his health so doesn't want to play too many games . . Buttler on the other hand is in his prime.

Livingstone came back from the IPL and went straight into the Lancs T20 side . . Buttler didn't!!

Buttler may be a centrally contracted player but as far as I know he also picks up a wage from Lancs. He just doesn't seem to have the appetite to play for us.

In other news I see Gleeson has been picked for the England T20 squad v India 👍
