Callum Johnson

I can understand Portsmouth needing to sell in order to raise funds, but why are they selling a promising player they only signed relatively recently?

I can't remember him, because at BR Dion Charles kept dropping back to RB when they parked the bus. So I don't know anything about this guy. But 6 ft 2 and a dedicated RB, very encouraging. And a northern lad as well.
He'd certainly help against taller strikers coming in from the opposition left, and to prevent nod ons like Cardiff (although they were in the LB position). Hope he's on Critch's radar

According to this piece in Pompey's local paper, he did well last season but seems more of a Turton than a Gabriel.....
"The former Middlesbrough trainee was among Pompey’s most consistent performers amid 46 outings in the 2020-21 campaign.
That was recognised as he finished third in the The News/Sports Mail player of the season vote, behind Ryan Williams and Craig MacGillivray.
Johnson perhaps lacks the forward-thinking attributes to be a natural fit in Cowley’s game idea, however."

Yes this surprised me as I always remember him as an attacking right back when he played for Accy!

Decent boxer. Floored the very good Beterbiev before getting beaten but now looking again for a world title shot.
