Can a woman have a penis?

Starmer came unstuck on this morning’s LBC Call Keir show, after Nick Ferrari asked the Labour leader whether women can have penises. He also accused “too many people” of wanting to debate the issue from a place of intolerance, and implied disagreement with JK Rowling that Labour can no longer be relied upon to defend women and girls. All in the space of three minutes…

The floundering response to the genitalia question came after a caller asked Sir Keir about trans women in sports, referencing US swimmer Lia Thomas. Ferrari asked for clarification:

“NF: So a woman can have a penis?

KS: Nick I’m not… I don’t think we can conduct this debate with…

NF: Sorry have I offended you?

KS: No no no I just… it’s just…

NF: A woman can have a penis?

KS: I just don’t think that discussing this issue in this way helps anyone in the long run. What I want to see is a reform of the law as it is but I’m also an advocate of safe spaces for women and I want to have a discussion that is… anybody who genuinely wants to find a way through this I want to discuss that with. I do find that too many people in my view retreat or hold a position which is intolerant of others – and that’s not picking on any individual at all – but I don’t like intolerance, I like open discussion.”

Another fine mess, Sir Keir…

The sort of peurile interviewing we've come to expect from LBC. As for Guido Fawkes....at the cutting edge of political journalism, as usual.

You are probably right. It's just basic trolling of individuals completely incapable of speaking plainly and I don't forsee it stopping any time soon. Puerile maybe but politicians will tie themselves in knots when not being honest. Do Labour really have to lose yet another election before the soul searching begins?

They are incapable of saying it as it is. Still playing the same old identity politics to the end.

It's seems to be the latest trend amongst certain media types such as Darren (crafty wank) Grimes, Hartley Brewer, Tice, Fox and other political commentators of a certain persuasion. They've moved on from Climate change; energy and covid vaccinations and chose another deflection from heating or eating; gas prices; inflation; food poverty etc etc . It's a part of an invented culture war that doesn't really exist in the minds of most normal people give or take the odd dickhead on here and twitter.

It does though doesn’t it, your snide unnecessary comments only confirm that.

Yes, I really don't understand the line of thinking that identifies this as an issue that people should be beating Starmer up about. He's not responsible for the kind of Alice in Wonderland thinking that leads us to the point where serious politicians are expected to have a position on manufactured "issues" like this. When you make it about him you fall for the trick that SSP describes.

He would be well advised to just say something mainstream that reflects what people actually think instead of tying himself in lots trying not to give offence to a section of society that seems to thrive on being offended. Nothing he or any national politician says will ever be good enough to satisfy the extremists - so why bother courting them?

The same sort of journalism one hears every morning on Radio Four. Ask a question, interrupt after the interviewee has spoken half a dozen words, let them try and start again interrupt after four words and continue the interview in the same vein until time runs out.

I think the nature of the stations differ markedly but I agree your point.

If a woman had a penis too she could F*** herself, just for balance if a man had a Fanny too he could do the same 🙄

Spot on.

For the record we were in the company of someone who works at a local University on Sunday and he mentioned that the staff have been instructed to call people who identify themselves as non binary “ they”….Personally I thought Shim would be better😉.

I think the problem he is facing is that they represent a significant proportion of his party support, particularly among the activist elements.

It's an issue that's infiltrating the public sector and beyond significantly, a recent dreadful case as an example: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/20...tient-not-raped-alleged-attacker-transgender/

A hospital told the police that a patient could not have been raped because her alleged attacker was trans, the House of Lords has heard.

The attack took place a year ago and the woman reported it but when officers contacted the hospital, which has not been named, they were told “that there was no male in the hospital, therefore the rape could not have happened”.

Baroness Nicholson of Winterbourne, who raised the issue during a debate on single-sex wards, continued: “They forgot that there was CCTV, nurses and observers.

“None the less, it has taken nearly a year for the hospital to agree that there was a male on the ward and, yes, this rape happened.

So I think it is a big issue and one that should be discussed, and if that's inconvenient for Sir Keir, tough.

I think that is a fair point Lost. But if the party keeps pandering to its activists, it will never win power.

This was the mistake that the people around Corbyn made - they chose to live in an echo chamber and convinced themselves they were cutting through to the electorate at large. Last time around, they certainly weren't. It's not a unique phenomenon, of course. You only have to read the stuff that the alt-right post to see that.

Beyond useless Starmer. Embarrassing. The never ending quest to try and not offend anyone. He should be asked the same question at every interview until he answers yes or no 😀great comedy

How can Starmer say he supports safe spaces for women if you can’t identity who the women are. Here's a safe space, full of ex men with penises in there? Anyone can identify as a man women or whatever and get in these safe spaces, you can't not allow them or you're then this phobic that phobic. So you cant have safe spaces under the current madness.

It’s all cowardly nonsense and the tyranny of the minority who seek to label and terrify people into second thinking anything they say Before they dare say it

The Norm as per Mother Nature is what it is and designed to continue the species by breeding a new animal for every animal that passes. It gives both sexes a sex drive to facilitate this where males are predominantly attracted to females and vice Versa.

Anything different to that basic is totally fine but not anything that endangers women so Men who are biologically men, who have cocks and just want to identify and live as women can do so and I genuinely hope they do so happily….but those Men in that category having access to Women’s changing rooms, prisons etc just because they say “I identify as a female”….do me a favour…..is that what we have become??..

Not just kind, tolerant accepting people who don’t want to judge others and want everyone to be. Happy….but instead letting idiots take it far far too far with dangerous consequences but we’re all shit scared to say anything because our HR dept are shit scared because our company are shit scared……of a load of ** lunatics?……BRILLIANT EH?*

* I ain’t talking about transitioning people here..that’s another topic

Imagine if Boris was asked this question?

He'd instantly be straight into "Leveling up, getting Brexit done, supporting the NHS, tax cuts and how we were global leaders in eradicating ALL Covid ever".

As you said Starmer was stupid. Should have just rallied off a thousand fcuk up's the Tories have done since Christmas.

There was a piece in our local rag last week advertising a new shop that is opening and will cater specifically for the transgender etc population of the area. It went on to talk about the person who is running the shop and 'they' consider themselves to be of neutral gender, not a Mr, master. Mrs or miss, but a 'they' or a 'them.' I wondered what would happen if I were to ask if 'they' were one of 'them'. Sorry, but it has to be said.
Do you have to be transgender to shop there?
That’s a bit genderist. 😼

Just for some balance;

IMO This subject needs to be handled sensitively and with respect for all involved. I am happy that a Conservative MP feels that they can publicly do this in our society but we still have a long way to go.
We do need to have a debate about what the definitions and boundaries are. We can design away some of the issues. Gender dysphoria is probably much more common than most of us think.

Johnson just thought it was worthy of making a joke about at a dinner which Jamie Wallis was in attendance at. As with party gate he’s completely tone deaf.

Comes across a bit of a degenerate, this guy. WTF has him totalling his car and running away got to do with his gender? He slipped that one in. Quite smart actually as most will just say he's a brave hero and courageous like a lion.

Oh well, just another confused idiot.

A woman cannot have a penis.
A biological male who identifies as a trans-woman can have a penis.
But therein lies the difference between a woman and a trans-woman.
It’s a significant difference and it has to be recognised and addressed. We can’t be afraid to make the distinction just because we are afraid of offending. That only leads to nonsensical outcomes such as the authorities ignoring child grooming gangs for decades.
Biologically born males cannot be treated as if they are women in sports. Trans-women swimmers, cyclists etc have an advantage over women. That can’t be ignored or undone by virtue of someone changing how they define themselves.
Everyone should be free to chose how they live and they need to respected. But women cannot be the accidental or intended victim of trans-women whether that be on the sports field, or in the women only safe space such as a toilet if the trans-woman still has male genitalia.

Puerile? Perhaps.

Necessary? Yes.

When leading politicians fully subscribe to a worldview that is contrary to reason, logic, and biology, then the public has every right to expect them to be able to justify their views.

99.9% of people know that women can't have penises. About 50% are too scared of the social and financial consequences to openly say so in public.

That is a situation that can't exist in a healthy society.

This isn't a party political issue by the way. The so-called Conservative party have been as much, if not more responsible for steaming ahead with legislation that endangers women in order to pander to a very noisy, well-funded minority that wields disproportionate power.

If it were my show, it would be the first question I ask every single public figure who came on, and I wouldn't move on until they gave a straight answer.

"Woman: n. Adult human female."

It is especially common amongst girls going through puberty. Their bodies go through much more dramatic changes than boys in a shorter space of time. It often leaves them feeling betrayed and confused by their own bodies.

Clinical evidence shows that the VAST majority of children with gender dysphoria are girls, and the VAST majority grow out of it by the time they reach adulthood.

They need care and support, not a medical intervention that will cause irreversible damage to their bodies and lead to a lifetime of medical dependency and brutal surgical procedures.

Within 50 years this issue will be looked on by our descendents with the same bewildered astonishment as we look back upon women being subjected to lobotomies. I can also guarantee that everyone who lived through it will miraculously claim they were dead-set against it all along.

I agree with most of that.
There is a debate to be had as to the age when a person can take an informed decision about having gender reassignment surgery. Personally, I would be very uncomfortable about letting a minor have this surgery - if it was any of my business. Our understanding of these conditions is in its infancy because of previous social taboos, however we are at least moving to a place where a discussion can be held.

Not as new as people tend to think.

Magnus Hirschfeld in Weimar Germany and John Money are the two most recognised names in the field.

Money's 'work' with the Reimer twins is particularly egregious:

Dare I say it, kids should not be exposed to this kind of thing in schools as they allegedly are in the USA. Just let 'em grow up as kids until they are old enough and educated enough to make their own decisions. The whole thing in the States just stinks of grooming to me.
