Can we get behind him now?

He's here and taking emotions out of it was the best man we could get. I'd love to see the fanbase actually 100% behind the players, coaching staff etc - it's been a tiresome 12 months.

Yes I wish he'd written a damn goodbye statement but it's in the past
No. Loyalty is earned, not deserved. He buggered off from Blackpool to lay out cones for Gerrard got sacked, went to QPR, failed, and ended up unemployed. Try a little self-respect before you jump on the automatic loyalty bandwagon.

Take it you won’t be going whiles he’s here then?
Got my season ticket, so yes. Can't say I was comfortable watching my beloved Seasiders when the Oystains were at the helm, but from the late 90s I had a season ticket (I was attending regularly from the mid 1970s without a ST) right through until the boycotts. Like most of us (I'm guessing not you?) the suing of fans and all the rest of it was the point which we needed to say enough is enough.

Anyhow there were several polls here and there that concluded upwards of 90% of Seasiders didn't want Critchley back. A lot of them are now choosing for whatever reason to now back him. And I do get that. People are (delete as appropriate) forgiving or fickle. Will I be delighted if Critchley gets us promoted? Yes. Will I have the same level of admiration or respect I had before? No.

I think on the whole we have as a collective been patient, understanding and even generous with our backing of all of the duffers that Sadler et al have appointed. Grayson and Appleton were huge mistakes. Just about all of us could see this but largely we backed them regardless of their indifferent recent records, alleged tattoos, besmirching comments etc. McCarthy could have worked out either way. As it happened he was terrible, but again we had the good grace to give him a chance. So I think as fans we should have the same patience and good grace with each other if we have different levels of acceptability and satisfaction re: our returning manager.

He was out of work after 2 disastrous recent jobs went south and Saddler came and offered him a 4 year deal. I suppose successful businessmen can work with people they dislike or even detest and go to sleep easily. And I suppose having principles is a weakness in today's modern world. Maybe I'm a dinosaur? I don't care, nobody will change how I feel. I'm very proud that I have principles.

In no way is his return similar to Appleton's.

Critchley has proven credentials, brought success to the club previously, and was the best available.

Appleton was out of his depth from the start and never should have been anywhere near a shortlist of names, never mind the man to get the job.

We need to get behind him instead of the incessant pissing and whinging every time a certain section of our fan base don't get their own way.
They're definitely different situations, I said on another thread that Appleton was divisive but I don't think he was really now. I don't think anyone was happy with Appleton, you were either in the middle or against it. The Critchley appointment is definitely polarising as most seem to be either against it or for it, seen plenty over the moon and plenty fuming.

If you can't get behind Critchley, get behind the team. That's what I'll be doing.

My mate at Luton Airport had this saying, and it appears appropriate now.
'Faint heart never f**ked a pig'.
Don't ask what it really meant but I always laughed. 😄

Morals and principles 🤣 get a life.
King Billy?

And you scorn morals and principles?

Your name abuses a moral and principled legend who must be spinning in his grave.

Contrast the unappreciative, twice-failed returnee with a hero still loved by fans.

Rest-assured

Rest-assured, Fylde Seasider, you are NOT a dinosaur. They finally became extinct at Bloomfield Rd once we'd dispensed with the services of Mickosaurus.

that’s exactly what I’ll be doing. Critchley can talk to himself all day long for all I care. Apparently we have to be “thrilled” with the appointment or we are just middle aged non entities! 😂
