Can We Stop Making Excuses For Critchley?

A ** pub side, team of cloggers and we couldn't even get a point at theirs.
No worry 16 games to go and we can do it.
NO WE CAN'T
Bookmark it, do what you ** want with it, we will not make the playoffs
They were like their manager - horrid & nasty.
The sad thing is, we played ok for the first 10 mins, after that their keeper could have sat in a deck chair.
We've got good players, but they're not being allowed to play at a high tempo, press, be aggressive and attack. Until that happens, we'll be boring to watch & keep dropping points.

He’s costing us time and money. At the very least get him a Tony Parkes like figure who can help him gain a greater perspective. He’s drowning in plain site.
You're right - maybe Gary Bowyer?
The last time NC was here, things did improve when we brought in Colin Calderwood.
I may be wrong, but I think NC resists having an experienced deputy & prefers his 2 LFC mates that go everywhere with him.

Why would you play CJ Marv and Kouassi ahead of Dembele Lavery and Casey. It’s just cowardice, rather than having the courage of your convictions and having trust in your better talented players he’ll have been on his spreadsheets and decided to match the physicality which is exactly what these teams want. They play like that every game so they’ll be better at it. Do you think Pep changes his system when he’s away at Sheffield Utd or Stoke no he lets them worry about his team. As soon as I saw Kouassi starting I knew we’d lose.

Steve Evans deserves credit. Showed his pal Critchley up 🤣. Their budget must me 25% of ours.
“Credit” what the fuck for?
If they we’re still playing now they wouldn’t have scored. Just a wicked deflection off Marvin (again)
Yes, they beat us but if I had to watch that hump football week in week out then honestly, I would stop going
And you could guarantee that if we played like that there would be anarchy on this forum

If you're going to play shit boring football then you need to get the 3 points. We do the first bit.

Look at their position and ours. That will answer your rant. He deserves credit for having a team so limited to be in the position they are in.

I can understand why he didn’t start Dembele and he didn’t influence the game when he came on.

CJ was very poor.

Personally thinks he needs to change formation, last time we went up he used 4.3.3 , some reason this is using 352
Like I said , is he scared not to lose , not trust the defence side of things
He's been playing 3-4-3 for weeks. Today Joseph, Kouassi and Hamilton were the front 3. Gabriel and Coulson the wide players in a 4 with Morgan and Norburn in the middle.

Owen Dale is a better right winger than CJ. Ironic that as soon as we ship Owen out, we decide to play CJ further forward.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. At this level you show other teams no respect whatsoever. We do things our way, doing what we do best, right from the off. No elaborate game plans or tactics. The players aren't that good.
The only respect should be when the players shake hands at the end, having trounced the opposition by playing the game like we want it played.

It's really not the same. That's development football with a limited pool of players and also playing with a philosophy to match the first team.
They now have to play in the Cone-boy's preferred formation which must be wonderful with even fewer players capable of playing it like you say.

Yep, they are punching well above their weight (maybe not their managers) and we are very much underachieving.
Bang on, Stevenage are shit but Evans is getting the most out of that shit.

Says a lot about us that with the players Critch has at his disposal that he can't get them performing better.

He's not getting anywhere close to what he should be out of them.

You're spot on. He has the players and has had the finanial backing. He strikes me as being very very childlike. His immature insistence on only making substitutions.on 70 mins. His love in with CJ instead of playing Lyons, his stubbornness, arrogance etc. Anybody who watches us regularly could pick the right team. It's never going to work out with this fool
What boggles the mind is we have an analyst on staff. He has to be seeing what we are seeing and telling Critchley so why are we repeating costly errors?

So by definition he’s doing a good job at Stevenage.

That'll be going off all the inside training info you have, attitude etc...?
I know CJ isn’t a wing back, Lyons can play a bit, Casey is our best defender, Connolly was never a left back, Dembele needs to start, Lavery should start ahead of Kouassi, that hoofing the ball today was not a good game plan and the crap possession stats doesn't win games

Can't believe we adapted our game to match Stevenage by playing Kouassi upfront. Embarrassing
Another thought on CJ having read that on adapting to them.
He should have picked a poppadom instead of him because one thing for sure it would be tougher in the tackle than CJ.

So, we’re playing Stevenage away. This calls for intense game planning and squad analysis Bones. Let’s not bother with selecting that new player from the level above as that will confuse them! It’s next level logic!

Read the first 5 or 6 responses, glad none of them are managing the team. He pretty much called it right today, we probably needed to score in that first half hour, unfortunately it didn't happen. Stevenage have a game plan and a style of football that is ugly but effective it takes a combination of quality and physicality to overcome that, we fell a bit short with what we have.
Starting Dembele against Stevenage would have been futile with your average league 1 ref, Rhodes and Beesley injured, Byers just arrived what is the better team that could be selected today against that opposition?
Maybe Casey could've started but apart from that what could Critchley do differently?

Take a look at their goal again today. Critchley has obviously done no meaningful defensive coaching. Two of our players watch their player don’t pressure him and give him a free header which he uses to pass to a teammate who then passes to his teammate who takes a free shot on our goal which deflects and goes in to win the game for them. Our defense is a shambles. As stated before teams must love playing us. We don’t tackle and we are easily pushed off the ball. Unless we move the ball fast we will be regularly outmuscled in this division. All on Critchley.
