All the great managers have a best XI and take games to the opposition. He doesn't have a best 11
He changes to deal with the opposition
Critchley shits his pants about the opposition and puts out an XI to counter that!

Is that all it's been, 6 wins...The statistics don’t lie, we’ve won just 6 league games in not a strong league. That’s on a par with those below us, worse than some. We have the squad to be pushing automatic, but Critchley is content with being average. His percentage football has always been dire.
The number of draws in his overall statistics paints a picture of negativity, focussed on stopping the opposition. When he was learning his trade, it was a very FA way of coaching, a mirror of Southgate.
With 3 points for a win, those tactics are likely to leave us short. Next season will be far more difficult and for me, SS needs to take a long hard look at what is happening.
I was thinking about his time with us and just the big away followings. The fans are doing their bit, but the approach and outcome is usually the same. We are never thrashed or outclassed, we just don’t turn up and play our game. Even when we are ahead and controlling a game, his approach is negative, which invites teams back into the game.
This is becoming a very frustrating season, because the squad has all the quality & depth. At what point does SS realise we’re treading water.
YupTake Pompey away out of the equation and now until the end of the year (including the FA Cup) we play sides well below us in the table - can anyone see us going on the sort of run we need to in order to push back in to the Top 6?
That's only happened once I think? Probably due to Lavery getting injured too.We could go on a run but not with Jordan up there on his own.
Might be something to do with Joseph, Gabriel, Norburn, Virtue, Lyons etc etc all having lengthy spells out. Get everyone fit and there is a world of difference. No, I just don’t think we’re good enough to go on a good run of results.
17 games in and we’re still playing with a different team most games of the week I’m amazed Critchley still doesn’t know his best starting 11.
17 games in and we’ve still not performed over the full 90 minutes yesterday was near but we just fell away second half and invited them on to us.
Decent sides in this league do both week in week out sadly were not one of them.
If he came out and said we'll piss this this weekend you'd be calling him arrogant and complacent. No too inconsistent for a run and Critchley keeps stating there are no easy games in the division, so we are on a hiding to nothing before we even kick off
There are easy games,, or at least some managers think so. His performance with the squad available is woeful. If he came out and said we'll piss this this weekend you'd be calling him arrogant and complacent.
Norburn lengthy? Lyons is fit and not getting selected.Might be something to do with Joseph, Gabriel, Norburn, Virtue, Lyons etc etc all having lengthy spells out. Get everyone fit and there is a world of difference.
Lyons is fit now but missed a month due to his father's death. Norburn was out for a fair few games too.Norburn lengthy? Lyons is fit and not getting selected.
There isn't a football league manager who will ever say in public there are easy games. There are easy games,, or at least some managers think so. His performance with the squad available is woeful.
It is always someone else's fault not his being a master tactician.
Massively different from the Holloway principle of if you score we will score more.
I think that's what disappoints me most - three shit draws against Orient, Vale and Exeter, throwing away leads against Fleetwood and Charlton .. I can take the Posh, Derby and Bolton defeats but those 5 results were awful and convert those 5 draws in to wins and we're 10 points better off and we're up their with the leaders but as it is 10 points is a daft amount to make up (it's almost like we're the Everton of League One!)If we can't beat average league 1 side we don't deserve to be up there and the players and Critchley will have failed.
Assume you mean Oxford?Nope. I think a season of indifference just short of the playoffs, with renewed optimism after a positive summer... [bookmark]
Nope. Soz.Assume you mean Oxford?
You've bedded in here so much you'll be supporting Blackpool soon. You probably do already but are in the denial phase.Nope. Soz.
