Cancelling TTV

My uncle is 83 & he lost his partner a few months ago & has been trying to cancel her subscription to TangerineTV. I enquired at the club shop for him & was given an email address for him to write to as it is done by a separate company. We sent an email explaining the situation that she has died and he wants to cancel the subscription. He hasn't heard anything back from them so when he checked yesterday to see if it was cancelled it just says 'blocked'?

He is 83 and as 83 year old people tend to do he is getting really worried about this and has asked me to help him. Would any of you know if this is right if it just says 'blocked' and does that confirm it has now cancelled?

Can you not stop the direct debit Lee? Talk to the bank?

Just cancel the monthly payment maybe??

The head doesn't know what the arse is doing with that company as I lost my bank card last season and got a new one.

When I came to renew my season pass it wanted to use my saved card which was no longer active and I then realised I had been getting the TTV £ 1 and whatever pence a month free almost all year.

Contact the Head of Commercials at the Club. I've done that about something else and it worked.

action you need to take if you do not want your subscription to be automatically renewed. Usually this will require you to email confirmation that you want to unsubscribe to tangerinetvsupport@streamamg.com not less than 5 days prior to the date of renewal;

Was the email address given the same as I put above ? If it was as mentioned either cancel the direct debit or the card that was used .

Yes that's the email the shop gave me and the email I gave him. He confirmed that's where it was sent. The account has been blocked so something seems to have happened? I may email them myself to check if they've sorted it tomorrow

You should be able to ask the bank to stop a direct debit.

 
If the uncle’s partner is dead , then surely the account would have been frozen, no more payments could have been deducted, providing your uncle has advised his partner’s bank.

Every 3 years I ask my bank for a list of direct debits and standing orders charged against my account. I review and cancel those no longèr relevant in a single correspondence to the bank. Dead easy and a way to pick up any I have forgotten about.

Forgot to add, you can do the same with your credit card

If the account is blocked, I'd say it was closed.

To send an email to the company asking them to put the old fellas mind at rest and confirm it is cancelled

Yes I have, but the descriptions of some of the dds on my online statements were not detailed enough to work out what they were. I have now cleared out some old, small dds that i subscribed to when I was working or self employed.

I cancelled the audio TTV last season. I simply went online on my banking app and ended the DD payment - and that was it. No more money came out and I never heard a thing from the club.

Not a job for the SLO. Just cancel the DD and that’s it…simple
