Cap on Bankers Bonuses to be Lifted

Liz Truss and Kwasi Kwarteng are expected to lift the cap on Bankers Bonuses to stimulate the economy.

Champagne retailers, Yacht builders and Porsche garages all welcomed the move saying "we've suffered greatly from this cap. Bugger the poor people, they'll have to manage on lower welfare payments"

In other news, 2 million more people have been caught in the higher rate income tax trap as limits haven't been raised for 3 years.

Vote Tory. You know it makes sense.

If you weren’t so fifth form, frozen in time, protest politics types you’d stop with these facile comments….you just see the World in “good people” and “bad people” terms…..it’s a 1984 Orwellian parody you lot star in …4 legs good, 2 legs better 😉

Read up a bit and broaden your knowledge and critical thinking and remove your “Swamp Thatcher” lapel button badges

... so, you're in favour of them getting lots more money then?

Ollygon defo wears a che Guevara T-shirt, probably has green hair and has pronouns in his Facebook bio With an EU flag.

Nobody wants a country run on 5th form Marxism, they just want a fair chance for themselves, their family and their community.

That's not possible when the tories shove ever larger vast amounts of money to their school chums, big business and any foreign toe rag that funds their party.

You ever thought of being an investigative journalist?…….so full of cold facts and avoiding self indulgent emotionalism 1663792520549.png1663792520549.png

Try looking at the abject poverty in Blackpool or Preston or Blackburn or West Yorkshire or the North East and have a think about why does that not happen in Scandinavia, Holland, Germany, Austria or Switzerland?

We are just as wealthy as those places.

You've adopted a new persona in your postings in recent times, where you try and characterise people as indulgent or over emotional on the issues and they really should "abandon their keyboard and go and fix it."

I guess you've had an event in your life recently where you've realised how little control any of us have over anything so you've decided to ignore it all.

1) Unions representing normal people concerned about the cost of living must shut up and get back to work

2) Bankers on already high wages with all the credit crunch causing baggage that the banking system carries - fill yr boots!

Don't question this. The economy is magic and it requires magical wizards to do the magic and understanding it is far beyond simple thickies like you or I.

We might feel like it's injustice but that's *just silly* - Wanting to put food on yr table, pay your bills and have a bit left over for some kind of quality of life (and to stimulate the local economy) is just greed and selfishness.

Peddle faster serfs. Those deliveroo deliveries won't deliver themselves. Get a second job! Get a third! Get on yr ** bikes.

Truss wants to portray herself as Thatcher mk 2. She has surrounded herself with socially deaf, big-business acolytes of the far-right who portray the working class as feckless. When the (literally), cold reality of this winter bites, the Tories will shed votes faster than the trees shed leaves.

Or maybe CND lapel badges.

I like the imagery. If I'm being picky the Orwellian parody would be Animal Farm if you're going to use the '4 legs good' quote.

I still have all of my badges: Stop crime, get rid of the police, Militant Tendency, NUPE Official Picket et al. But these were from my university days, not the 5th form.
5th Form/University. Not much difference these days
Congrats on your badges. But no CDN badge? Surely need one of them
to complete the full set of leftie badges?

No mate

I feel like balance is restored here. The Tories are acting like true Tories again and not trying to pretend to give a shit about anyone earning under £100k.

Totally abandoned the middle ground now so it’ll be a case of can Labour capture it? So far there’s little example of them doing so.

Do you not think there's a conflict of interest where the Government is funded by Russians while at the same time, giving billions away to fight a proxy war with Russia?

It's not like they could possibly profit from a build up in an arms race.

There's an army of minimum wage people out there classified as self employed who therefore think they have to support the party of small business, even though they are being hammered by that party.

This mini budget has just handed the next election to Labour, all Starmer has to do is not get caught strangling kittens or something.

I think they will.

Rees mogg, IDS and the rest of the ERG have realised the game is up and will use LTruss to get as much right wing policy implemented as possible before the next general election. Having been through similar economic times twice in the 70,/80s and 2000's expect tax cuts to be paid for by cuts in public services, reduced government spending in general coupled with attacks on workers rights and wage freeze on public sector pay. This time all dressed up as delivering the benefits of Brexit.

Pound continues to drop in value against the dollar, the people that dictate these things need to wake up and stop acting like 5th formers, Truss and Kwarteng have all the answers. They'll make Britain great again.

Labour couldn't even mount a decent criticism of today's Budget. The best Rachel Reeves could come up with was that Truss was part of Johnson's cabinet and therefore must have been responsible for previous Tory policies. Absolutely hopeless.

Maybe, but being quiet will win the next election.

That is the problem. You can’t rely on slating the opposition to win an election.

It’s like saying that someone is a bad person therefore I am a good one. It doesn't commute like that.

You still need to back yourself with why you are a good one.

We need reasons to vote Labour. Not just reasons not to vote Tory.

Yet again the government are targeting benefits. The amount of money the treasury loses due to lazy people at the bottom is miniscule compared to the amount it loses due to greedy people at the top. Unfortunately many of the latter are in power and until the British people wise up to this and vote accordingly we will never have public services that are fit for purpose.

The mini budget yesterday is a huge gamble and if we aren't seeing the promised growth by the next election, I think the Tories are in for a really quite devastating result. Even most Tories, both members and MPs, preferred someone else as PM.

It isn't often the same party remains in power for much beyond 15 years and I think they're on borrowed time. This does have a feel of the last throw of the dice. I'm not sure about Starmer at all, but governments that are in power for long periods become complacent and start to take your vote for granted. Three PMs in six years suggests that they believe they can do what they like, and giving those in power a bloody nose now and then is always a good thing imo.

Absolutely spot on with everything you said

If Labour don't win the next General Election get may as well cease as a party.
The Tories are handing it to them on a plate and Truss is the waitress.
Just desserts for having a PM "elected" by her rich cronies.
How long before the back benchers get their knives out?
