Castle Sports Group has completed the takeover and taken control of Carlisle United following ratification by the English Football League.

The Piatak family, from Jacksonville in Florida, have courted Carlisle extensively with club members already approving their takeover proposal.
Carlisle boss Paul Simpson has already agreed a revised budget for signings as part of the group's investment.

"We offer them a huge Cumbrian welcome," Carlisle's statement reads.

"Everyone associated with the club is delighted and looking forward to a long and successful future together."

The Cumbrians are in the relegation places within League One, with 14 points from 17 games so far this term, on the back of last season's League Two play-off final win over Stockport.

In securing new investment and ownership, long-standing chairman and co-owner Andrew Jenkins' tenure comes to an end, while fellow owners and board members John Nixon and Steve Pattison have also had a strong relationship with the club.

Carlisle supporters have been enthused by the opportunity of the Castle Sports Group interest given the financial muscle the family, who own a logistics firm in the United States, could bring to the League One club.

Be interesting to see how this goes, may make a difference if there was any intention to pursue Moxon in the transfer window.

Moxon hasn’t exactly shone this season anyway. Be surprised if we pursue that one.

Good luck to ‘em though 👍

Totally over priced; riddled with debt and some of the poorest infrastructure. They will need to start with the basics

Good luck to Carlisle I say.
Hope they improve and stay in the same league as us!
An easy travel on the train there, and the more "local" games the better!
They've had tough times with the debt, so hopefully for them these new owners are genuinely interested in putting some money in to the club.

They've had sustained failure for decades. Wouldn't begrudge them an upturn. Always find these foreign owners popping up out of nowhere a bit of a worry though.

I really hope the supporters trust keep their substantial shareholding as they have been huge in keeping the club afloat and are genuine local people. The owners were well meaning but the club looked more like one from the 50s

"It is expected that Carlisle’s January transfer budget will be significantly increased, and the family have pledged to invest in the club both on and off of the pitch."

Carlisle need to rebuild at least 3 sides of their ground. It's not fit for the 21st century. That won't be cheap to do.

They bypassed that opportunity when they had Fred Story ( Story construction ) onboard.
It was he who built and funded their ( offset ) East stand, and had plans then to move the pitch and build the other three stands accordingly.
All turned sour and he parted company with them.

Their Warwick Road end is in worse condition than our old East stand was before it was demolished. At least we had inside toilets !
