Carlisle statement. Moxon not for sale.

It may be the case that he is not 'for sale', but in football everyone has their price. The question is do Blackpool or anyone else want to pay that price.

You can lead players to a new contract but you can't make them sign it. Moxon's in a good place now; new contract offer on no doubt improved terms, with a financial inducement to sign and a release clause in the case of relegation or even low table finish?

Move on. We need money for a quality striker. Given some of the figures being banded about, this would probably be an either/or. Let's get a quality striker ideally on a permanent - preferable to a young striker on loan from a prem club, who might be a tad inconsistent.

It sounds like Moxon wants to stay. Told fans after the last friendly game that he's going nowhere. He's a Carlisle lad and a Carlisle fan. He'll get a better contract. We need to move on I think. If he does leave it'll be for money that neither his club nor he can turn down. A lot more than we have offered.

Carlisle or Blackpool?

No bias involved but the the lad would pick the Mighty if he wanted to evolve his career.

Don't really understand making offers for players without doing any sort of due diligence or speaking to their agent. Weird.
The leak has come from Carlisle, and the reason they've leaked is that there's a very real chance the deal could come off.

I'm sure the club knows how to handle transfers properly.

Yes to an extent but it's a risk. He may not even get a regular start for us. In the same division. Simmo knows him and got the best out of him in his first fully pro season and will plan around him this season. Continue to progress in L1 and he'll have Championship interest by January.

True, but we could be well on the way to the Championship next January and he potentially could have some nice bonuses inserted in a contract.
It is a risk though, but although different ages, so too were Crains and Charlie. Class rises to the surface if its there.

I mean a risk for him. I can understand why at the moment he is preferring to stay put.

If Carlisle is the height of his ambition then he is probably best staying there. But I would be amazed if that is the case. All professional players want to play at the highest level they can achieve and maximise their income while they can. I believe Blackpool offer a better route than Carlisle.

Nobody is saying that Carlisle is the height of his ambition.

We paid 750k for Callum Wright who had a ripper for Cheltenham inL1 the season before last. He was bollocks ! Moxon is 25 with one season in L2. Let him live the dream with relegation bound Carlisle, shitty little club.
Wow, you sound like a really nice character, full of wisdom, wit and intellectual knowledge, who has obviously watched Moxon over a number of seasons, I bet Mox is absolutely thrilled he's not going to play in front of fans like you.

Carlisle seem to have a high opinion of themselves here and may end up looking like planks. Every club is a selling club.

You could argue the other way. He starts well and a cship club might come in for him late August or January.
Potentially yes. I guess I just see us as the slightly more ambitious club. Say he did well for us this season, we went up, then he could play a season in the championship before a bigger budget Championship club came in for him.

My guess would be that CU have offered him increased money and a X year deal in favour of a good release clause and that the player gets a cut of any release clause met minus a base price (probably 500-750k), so maybe £1.2m - 700k = 500k with 20% going to the player.

It's what I would try to do if I was a FC chairman.

The figures are for illustration purposes only and are based on pure fiction.

I supposed in this way, rumours or initial interest in your player benefits both your club and the player later.

Let’s see how he does this season.

He knows his role in the Carlisle team and has momentum within it so he probably feels it could backfire if he moved. When things are finally going well for him, age 25, it seems a good idea to continue that a league higher and see where that takes him this season. He's a player who is being watched and will get a good move if he stands out in L1.

Its disappointing to see Pool fans slagging off Carlisle. Hypocritical and groundless.

From Saturday's report against Dundee United .. sounded shit anyway!

"United tried to pick up the pace with Garner spreading it to Ellis. He fed it back to Moxon. Passes were exchanged with Gibson, but the final effort was smothered, and Newman gathered it in."

Simmo (emphasis mine): “We had an inquiry from this club a couple of weeks ago for us to name our price and, fair play to Nigel Clibbens, he came to me and asked what I thought, and I said I don’t want him to go.

“He said that's good because I've told them he's not for sale. There's no price to give because he's not for sale. And that's what's happened.

“It was an offer that was made and it was all done officially. There's nothing underhand done by the club who made the offer. It was just turned down flatly because we all believe that with Owen Moxon in our side we've got a better chance of being successful.”

If Carlisle started conversations with the player after they won at Wembley and he still hasn't signed an extension, it looks like he's either wanting a move now or happy to run his contract down to be free in 11 months time.

A classy response from Simmo, I'd expect nothing less. It seems our club did nothing wrong and handled ourselves properly. Fair play to Carlisle, they obviously recognise he is a crucial part of them staying up this season. If he hasn't signed the extension in 3 weeks, that stance may change somewhat.
