Carlisle United v Blackpool Official Matchday Thread 13.04.24

Carlisle have only won 3 home games and last victory was on New Year’s Day.
That gives us 0.1% chance.
Tense grin is being more generous than usual.

Another 1-0 win for us. Keeps our season going for at least another week.

Any away game is difficult for us, so just because they are bottom and already relegated does not make this a given.

Grimshaw
Pennington Ekpiteta Husband
Gabriel Byers Carey Coulson
Dembele
Beesley Lavery

I'd just make the one change although I can see Norburn coming in for Carey, personally I think that would be a mistake.

They won on Tuesday, now relegated , must be playing with some freedom & possibly win new contracts.

What do you think about swapping Carey and lavery round? Lavery driving from deep would be a good way to play him and liven up the midfield. Carey likes to have a dig.

That's a no from me, Lavery has poor ball control and I'm actually seeing signs of understanding building between Byers and Carey. Lavery just needs a goal to get his confidence up, his 2nd half performance on Tuesday was so much better.

Lavery up front alone is a complete waste of time - in my opinion. We need someone who can win a header or hold the ball up.
Was never a requirement under Holloway. It's a myth that you need a target man upfront. I get that you would with two strikers but Beesley and Kouassi are shit so what's the point? Play with three forwards and get on the front foot.

We are slow, boring and predictable playing as we are. I'd almost put my mortgage on the fact we will get beat 1-0 by Carlisle.

Do you ever get bored of posting iterations of the same message 10x a day across the various threads on this message board?

WOULD love to be going to Carlisle . Sounds like a good day out. simmo is a decent bloke . Carlisle are a BIG club considering their catchment area. My ex door neigbours were cumbrians going back about fifty years. Bill and Marlene were the parents i never had. Every time this fiuxture comes around i think of them.

You keep believing. You are the type of fan who will keep believing even when it's mathematically impossible.
I'm not believe me, i find it hard to understand and believe what you say all the time, true and i mean true supporters have constructive criticism about the club, formations, players etc, but you are another level of negativity and gloom.

I believe Carey is the player we need to build this club around. He is ours, young, being developed and maybe just starting to come good. Next season (league 1 surely) is massive for him. I would put grimshaw and Casey in that bracket too. A spine of quality which is not loaned in. What we to find obviously is a striker in that mould, unless Joseph / Kouassi come good…

Well you are clueless, no other word can be said to describe you hence being predictable with my comments.

Who's Jim?
You mean: 'Sonny Jim', Sonny Jim. Ordinarily, it's used as a good-natured, if mildly derogatory rebuke, usually directed towards a third-party with whom you maybe engaged in somekind of argument or on-going dispute.

I hope that clears things up a little ...

I did know i was just winding clueless up

I remember a mid week fixture at Carlisle where we dominated and somehow lost 2-0 and bowl head nearly sacked Grayson but the season ended in promotion 👏🏻 is that an omen 🤣
