Blackpool down a thousand people since 2011 at 141,100. This is always used on % of town attendance figures etc

Any one have any idea what is happening to the overall population of the Fylde coast?

You’d imagine with the sheer scale of the housing developments going on in and around Poulton, (and if you include Wyre too) in and around Garstang then it must be increasing fairly substantially and getting younger too.

Blackpool Council came out and said, in the not too distant past, Blackpool is losing less people than it used to, that then get replaced by other towns people.

So its looking positive.

Big next 5 or 10 years for the town, with lots of redevelopment and improvements.

According to an official Blackpool Corporation booklet I have dated October 1946, it gives 143,650 with 122,000 electors.

In a book “Lancashire Facts and Records” dated 1975, it is 150,000

So anyway, it looks like its gone up in the last 2 years, if the 2020 estimates are correct and aligned with the council saying less are leaving.

But remember also, new houses near b and q, even though no one would say they weren't in Blackpool there, you're in fylde council area. So even though the town is technically expanding, its just not in the council area, even if in the Blackpool address.

Most towns don't have this limitation, when houses are built on its outskirt it adds to the town.

Council boundaries 🤨
