Charlie-Adam

Excellent read. 👍

Hopefully a few more on here will read it and actually take in what it says about Fleetwood being the smallest town in England with a football league club until FGR joined in 2017.

I really don't think very many give a flying shit about Fleetwood tbh jaffa. I'm sure most of the anti cod comments on here are purely to get a rise out of you!

The Fleetwood/Blackpool hatred is mostly 1 way from where I'm standing.

It's called football rivalry which what makes football great.
They hate us and we hate them(most do) it adds to the atmosphere.

Since we've been playing them recently it has built up is now a Cat A for the Police and is one of the biggest attendances of the season for either side.

The Cod's have now been put on the Nobbers, Bolton & Burnley list.

Honestly I don't see it as rivalry and neither do my mates and family that attend. Nobbers, Burnley, Bolton absolutely as there is history. Not Fleetwood. Only cat A due to proximity and the little cod scrotes who like to throw bricks at trams.

You really think so?
Don’t get me wrong, it’s a game with added spice and it is a Derby but it feels nowhere near Preston. A lot of our fans seem to really hate them but I couldn’t really care and if anything I wish them well as I would rather play them next season than not.

Of course it's nowhere near Preston that rivalry has been going on for years the Cod's is new that's why many older fans say it isn't.

The younger crowd hate them and good that's what football is about.

I'm not sure I agree. I wouldn't put Fleetwood anywhere near Preston, Bolton amd Burnley when it comes to rivalry. Most of my mates feel that way too. I can understand the younger generation having more of a dislike for them as most of them haven't grown up with the traditional rivalries and derbies.

Talking of Criminals who do you think owned the club prior to Sadler for 30 years?

Forgotten already or does that not count?
Behave. Of course it hasn’t been forgotten.

Fleetwood were bankrolled from obscurity to the football league, don’t imply it’s impressive for the size of the town when that has nothing to do with anything.

But you mentioned a criminal as so did I so what’s wrong with that?

By the way I’m happy to form a list of football clubs that have been bankrolled by Wealthy owners so why do you just single out Fleetwood?

Infact it be would be easier to list who hasn’t been bankrolled these days.

Do you seriously think Man City would be where they are now without Arab money? Do you seriously think Wrexham would be back in the football league without Hollywood money? You need to open those eyes of yours singling out one club as the list is endless.

And for the record I singled them out because there’s a few on here who cannot seem to understand even now why they have such small crowds nothing to do with bankrolling it’s to do with the size of the town.

I never mentioned anything about crowds. Maybe I misunderstood you as I thought you were implying that being in league one is an achievement for a club from a small town.

I disagree with that because Fleetwood are in League One because they were bankrolled with dirty money.

I’ve got nothing against Fleetwood by the way my grandparents lived there and my mum went to Fleetwood High. Just stating facts about the football club.

Yeh I'm not really bothered about what Fleetwood do either really or Charlie Adam for that matter. If some want to pretend about a rivalry let them.

If some want to pretend about a rivalry let them.

You mean like all the flares and pitch invaders when we play them?
Not to mention the Fleetwood fan being assaulted on the pitch by Blackpool fans..

Doubt you'll see any of the above rivalry this saturday, for instance.

It's more of a younger fan rivalry, and possibly the only game some of the the young uns at my work, will go to.

I’d guess Ferguson was saying keep the players on board. The Beckham incident was more than likely when he had got too big for his boots. I didn’t like Man Utd for a few valid reasons, but you have to respect what Ferguson achieved with them.

But you will be having a go if they do take over saying it’s bankrolling?
Boyzone? No, we’d all have to see how they run the club before passing comment.

A better comparison would be Salford because they’ve done similar to Fleetwood without benefiting from the proceeds of crime. I’ve got no time for them either tbh.

Really? Ryan Giggs was involved in crime admittedly not in a financial way.

And found not guilty where as the Cod's owner is doing a 13 stretch.😂
Nothing to do with him paying her off then to drop the charges?

Yet a convicted rapist only got 7 years and only did half that? 🤷‍♂️

Even a cold blooded murderer of 3 people only gets convicted on manslaughter charges.

British Justice system? Don’t make me laugh.

How many people did AP rip off even a prominent poster of here got ripped off by him?

Fraud if found guilty they have always got big time for the sheer numbers involved.
Someone I know got 7 years and sent to the Isle of Wight didn't do a quarter of what AP or the sums.

He was top of the pyramid further down many others got charged, deserved everything he got.

Now changing law for those who commit fraud and sentences given out is a separate issue.

Aah
So the supporting Blackpool is, not as random as, it first appeared

A Fleetwood fan ran on the pitch and went looking for trouble at the south east corner, he got a slapping for his troubles, as would any dickhead from any other team!
Flares were being thrown at most games back then. It's got F*** all to do with rivalry, other than perhaps from the pitch invading Codhead's perspective.

It's everything to do with bankrolling. If they had to make their way by gate money they wouldn't be in the Conference, never mind League.

You seem to have a short memory of the rivalry, so here's another little reminder.
Fast Forward to 10 mins 30secs.

How many times does this happen against any other of our league rivals?
I seem to remember a few ran on from the north after our 1st goal as well.

This fixture clearly means a lot more to some of our fans than others.

Not the only club doing it though as I keep saying.

Do you think Wrexham would be paying some of their players 10 grand a week without Hollywood money?
No me neither.

Been going on for years clubs paying over the odds wages that they simply can’t afford in the long term they end up in the shit it’s part of football.

Absolutely. Just that this one actively tried to build their fanbase by recruiting former Blackpool fans and continue to do so.

Plus two wrongs don't make a right.

You'll note that every time Preston publish their accounts I point out they are unsustainable as well.

Since when has it been a crime to recruit who you want? 🤷‍♂️
I’ve still never met anyone else in life that says we’ve lost fans to Fleetwood other than you.

We have our share of hot headed fans, nobody is suggesting otherwise but I've seen our fans on the pitch many times. It doesn't make the team we were playing at the time big rivals?

Everyone knows that Fleetwood is a small town whose football club were successful by being bankrolled by a criminal

Makes a change to see somebody acknowledge that Fleetwood have been successful.

I'd say that going from just above Sunday League to the League One play-offs is outstandingly successful.

It would appear that many of our supporters who don't care about Fleetwood get very tetchy about their achievements and about Pilley.

I have listened to a few of his post-match pressers on radio R B/B's X after I listen to our dullard and he says all the right things but he is always honest about what he has seen I think.
