Charlie Kirk

If we were to take Kirk then folk need to start again with him.

He was billed as a replacement for Josh Bowler. He's no more a tricky dribbling winger than I am, and I'm 57 with bad knees.

But I always saw him as comfortable on the ball, and had a good left foot. There would be a role for him in a possession based team, whether he offers an improvement on what we already have is open to debate at this stage.

The main positive was that he could actually deliver a decent set-piece. He did seem to lack pace and the ability to beat a man which you are normally looking for in a winger though.

Would be happy to have Kirk back great player in this division
Problem is, if he was signed, it would be a 2/3 year contract. The majority on here seem to think we have a good chance of the playoffs, if we went up he isn’t championship standard and we would be trying to unload again. Who’s Critchley going back to next, Maxwell? It wouldn’t surprise me.

I don’t give two shits if they are big money or big name signings. If a player is seen to fit our squad, our ethos and our system then it’s ambitious enough for me!
And if they re right for the team, style , ethos etc. Too much is made of this ,' sign a big name , ' way of thinking .
Our best players in recent years were the ones who fitted into the team the best .
Then they played regularly and became better players

Not Maxwell, but not aiming at real Championship potential perhaps. Not got the budget.

-Good from dead ball situations.

- Not a proper winger, so fits more into a 4-4-2 format I would think.

- Didn’t realise he was on loan at Burton Albion last season.

-Looks like a low budget option?

Can deliver a good ball but can’t remember ever been that impressed with him. Will offer something different but hardly the most inspiring signing.

In and out of the side for us. I thought he had decent ability and some potential while never really setting the world alight. I’d be happy to see what he can do if he gets settled properly. If I recall his move to Charlton was much heralded but then fraught with family and location issues? That sort of thing can have a big impact on a player. I’ll be starting from a position of optimism at least.

Needs to get stuck in, didn’t show it for me. Critchley wants Round Pegs in Round Holes which is ok but I think this will be a boring signing. The one saving grace is if he can deliver a good ball in consistently there could be dividends.

He'll be ok in L1 but we wont be ripping up the division without some better quality going forwards in my opinion, once Jerry goes. Hopefully that quality is still to come.

Unlike CJ however, this lad can control a ball and has some end product
End product, must have missed it.

CJ gets a hard time because he isn’t naturally talented and your average fan can’t look past that. Those that can though, appreciate the fact that he is usually behind most of the good things we do (albeit that is rare) and is always a threat.

Looks like he still has two years left on his contract. Is there likely to be a fee? If so Charlton paid £500k for him so it could be a significant sum.

Not even sure it would be a good signing on a free. Our other signing sounds more like a squad player so slightly worrying. Yes, I understand Blackpool in League One is not a draw but I was half expecting or hoping we would be in for better quality players than what we have seen so far.
